Kona Cafe sushi on dining plan

Possibly a dumb question, but I've never ordered sushi at WDW before. We have the regular dining plan on our upcoming trip and I want to do our arrival dinner at Kona Cafe.

If I order the volcano roll for $14.99 will that count as my meal on the plan? Do I get multiple rolls? Or is sushi OOP? Or is it an appetizer?

Thanks!

Bumping hoping someone has ordered sushi on the dining plan before. I guess I could wait and see how they want to charge it. It's our arrival night, so I can pay OOP if needed.

From what I can tell, there is no sushi at Kona. They have sushi at Kona Island Sushi Bar. Two separate restaurants. Both at The Polynesian. While Kona is on the DDP, Kona Sushi Bar is not. You would have to pay OPP.

We ordered sushi at Kona Cafe in 2013 on the Dining plan. It was very good and included as an adult meal. We are going to try Starring Rolls on our trip next week.

I ordered sushi at Kona Cafe (the table service Kona that needs reservations-not Kona Island) while on the dining plan. It was going to be one roll for one entree credit. So, I paid for the roll (my dw and i split it as an appetizer) and ordered a different entree. I felt like $12-15 for a roll was a poor use of a dining credit. However, if you're not planning to eat a large meal, I'd totally opt to use this as my credit, especially if on "free dining."

Also, as a side note, they have all of the sushi options from Kona Island on the Kona Cafe menu at disneyworld.com. I checked this morning because I'm making Kona reservations again.

From my experience, if you have the regular dining plan, you can order 1 roll as your meal. I've gone to California Grill on the Deluxe DP, and was able to order a roll as my appy, and a roll as my main dish, so I got 2 rolls plus dessert on the DxDP. Now, lots of people will argue that was an extreme waste of 2 dining credits, but it was our last night, and we had some credits leftover, and the sushi looked amazing! Personally, I would just order the rolls out of pocket especially if it's my arrival night. You can always go back another night if you have any credits leftover.

Oh, that's a great Idea! Order the roll OOP and a different entree for my meal. Thanks!

Yep. I've also ordered off the dinner menu at Kona Cafe while sitting at Kona Island.

Nice! I have learned something new. Sorry for the misinformation.
