Kona cafe pre 1998

When we went in 1998 my husband's family went with us. We ate at the Poly restaurant that is now where Kona is. It was always my in laws favorite. They were paying so I wasn't complaining!! Does anyone remember what the name of that restaurant was? I remember that they closed it for renovations right after we were there.

According to my DH who has stayed at the Poly around 30 times since he was a baby,the restaurant was called the "Pepeete Bay Varandah" ( I could not pronounce this restaurant right if you paid me )

The Papette Bay Verandah was where Ohana's is now. The Coral Isle Cafe was what the Kona was called before.

Back in 1994 I am thinking it was Tangarora (sp) Terrace or something close to that. We had supper there one night and the food was very good. The dining room was not very big and it was on the 2nd level of the Poly. If you stand in the main lobby and look up and to your far left, that is where the restaurant was.

Back in 1994 I am thinking it was Tangarora (sp) Terrace or something close to that.

Tangaroa Terrace was the buffet restaurant in the building near the laundry/Neverland Club/arcade. It's where (I think) they have the temp Cap'n Cook's.

Didn't the Poly also have a Chinese Junk that served drinks and appies? I thought I read something about that once, but I am not sure.

Although I don't recall it myself. I recently read that the Poly did have a Chinese Junk. It was only there right at the beginning for a year or two.

The junk was the "Eastern Winds".
