Kona Cafe for breakfast or dinner?

I have a real dilemma (well, according to me...dh thinks I'm nuts). We are planning a short 4 day trip to wdw just the two of us for my 35th birthday at the end of October. We'll be arriving mid-morning and have rented pts to stay at OKW. Our first night I have tickets to MNSSHP, and we were planning to be there at 4pm or shortly thereafter to take full advantage of these tickets as this will be our only day at MK. At first I was planning to just do a CS that night. This whole trip was supposed to be cheap(er) and I wasn't planning to do DDP at all, eat brekkie in the room, etc. But dh really wants to eat at Boma for dinner one night, and my choice for my birthday meal is lunch at Le Cellier. Then I started figuring out costs and realized we'd be stupid not to do the dining plan. We are there for practically 4 days (early flight in, late flight out) so we will have no problem using the credits, and with the probable meals, we'd be saving money. So I was looking for one more table service to make ADR's for (I have the other 2 already) and I thought oooh, tonga toast at Kona! We missed it on the last trip and I really wanted to go back, so I thought we could do it our last day there (planning to do DTD marketplace that morning). But then I started reading the reviews of dinner here and it looks really good too! We could do dinner here before we head to MK for MNSSHP if I can still get an early ADR (guess that will really be the sticking pt).

Opinions????

I am doing both. On my up and coming trip. I suggest. You eat an early dinner at Kona, and the day you leave have breakfast there. You cannot go wrong either way. At least that is what I hear from other posts. I cannot wait to try Konas!! Enjoy your birthday trip!!

Every trip we have to do Kona at least once for breakfast. The coffee is incredible and I love the Tonga Toast. My DS loves the Mickey pancakes and there is a large variety for my DH to choose from.

We have also done dinner there and found it was really great. It's much quieter than Ohana's, the food is fantastic with a varied menu and the desserts are out of this world. I would suggest trying both at least once (or like us ... continue going again and again!)

We have had all 3 melas at Kona multiple times and everything has always been wonderful. In fact I will be having dinner there in August and breakfast there in December. ;)

I don't think you can go wrong either way. :thumbsup2

I had always had breakfast at Kona but decided to try dinner last December. It was incredible! We ended up going twice for dinner. The macadamia nut fish is heavenly!

I think dinner is great! The macadamia encrusted mahi-mahi is wonderful! Not to mention the Kilauea Torte with a side of vanilla ice cream....yum!

I vote for breakfast. I asked this same question several months ago because breakfast and dinner both sound great at Kona. Most people answered to do both! :rotfl: But other than that, the majority voted for breakfast and tonga toast. I ate here on my birthday and it was soooo good that I'm hoping to add it in for breakfast on every trip. I still want to do dinner too, but I would vote for breakfast.

I would do both. We love the Kona Cafe for breakfast (pineapple macadamia nut pancakes) and for dinnner.

I would do dinner on the DDP and breakfast OOP on your last day if that fits your plans. Both are excellent.

However, you would not be able to have dinner before going to the party at 4 as it doesn't open for dinner until 5pm.

My vote would be for B-fast...Dinner is good there, but if your options are limited by time, I think the breakfast is better.

See, now this is why I am way over on my TS credits! Tonga Toast or Sticky wings????? :confused3 I want both.

Guess we're in the minority but I'd go there for dinner and skip breakfast.

Don't like Tonga Toast, and LOVED everything there for dinner. Hands (and feet) down wouldn't miss dinner there, and with the dining plan, definitely a good choice. And . . . Desserts are to die for!

DINNER DINNER DINNER DINNER!
