Kona Breakfast

Ok so we just decided to take a short trip during Nov free dining. We always go to Kona once for breakfast but when I looked this time the only openings were for 750 or 950am (which is too late). I never thought I wouldn't be able to find a time to eat there since it has always been open even just weeks before our trip. Do you think there would be seats available if we just show up? It's never been that busy when we've gone in the past. If the parks open at 9am is it even possible to get to a 750am reservation? We will be staying in a value resort and can't take a taxi because we have kids in car seats. Now I'm bummed!

I have a 7:30am ADR for my Nov and I always have breakfast there, with a 7:30am ADR and have had no problems getting there on time. Buses start running at 6:30am. I am an early bird so I always make sure I am at the bus stop at 6:30 just in case. I think if you take the early buses, you'll be fine. One year the bus actually took me straight to the Poly, which was so nice! But that was because I was the only one on the bus and the driver asked where I was heading.

I too am going during free dining in November and struggled to get an ADR at Kona. Took a few goes but I have had to settle for a 7:30am reservation.

There is still plenty of time before November so keep checking online to see if a cancellation comes up. You can also subscribe to the Nov cancellation thread, but be sure to read the rules in the first post:

Keep checking until the last minute - reservations can be made for the same day if someone cancels. While you could try walking up without a reservation there is no guarantee your family will be seated. It will depend on how busy the restaurant is at the time you show up. If Kona is busy you could go to Captain Cook's.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if busses ran that early but the kids get up by 530am usually so we should be able to make it but ill keep checking.

This is my favorite breakfast since having to go gluten free so we try to go once as a treat! I just can't believe how busy they are becoming.

I was told that you can tell the main desk at your resort that you have an early morning ADR and they will tell you when to meet the early bus. We are staying at Pop and have a 7:30 at Chef Mickeys, so that was my plan. My husband will be glad to hear that Kona has gluten free options. I booked it for our last day breakfast.

Thanks for the information about asking the front desk. I never would have thought to ask. Also, they don't have gluten free tonga toast but if he likes pancakes they've always made the Macadamia Nut Pancakes for me and at least I think they are great.

Just want to add that you can use a taxi without car seats, IF you are comfortable with that. I personally love the 7:50 time... You can likely rope drop!
