We will be eating at Kona Cafe for dinner during our next trip and I was wondering, What exactly is a KoKo Puff (dessert)?

I've heard people talk about them, but have never saw one. What is it made of?

It sounds interesting & may want to order one :p !

Thanks!

A KoKo Puff is really a cream puff with chocolate cream filling. They put whipped cream on top and drizzle the whole thing with chocolate sauce. I think there are 6 small puffs in each serving. Share it with someone. Very rich. Try it with the press pot of Kona Coffee!:)

Mamakate-

On our Thanksgiving trip 2003 we were staying at the Poly and got back around 10 one night. We stopped by Kona but they were closing. The hostess was very accomodating and asked the very nice lady behind the counter if she could make us dessert to go. I got the kona puffs b/c I had heard so much about them. I have to tell you I threw most of it away! I have to say that I am pretty picky, though!

I didn't enjoy these. I found the filling to be quite similar to a cannolli. Had more of a cheesy texture than a cream filling. Too rich for my tastes. If you get one, share it.

My DS15 had the KoKo Puffs last month at the Poly. He's a very picky eater, but he loves chocolate. He devoured the KoKo Puffs, even though he's not a big eater for a teenage boy.

I think it's just one of those things you need to try for yourself!

I found a site with pictures of food from the Kona Cafe, including the Koko Puffs. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll find them there :)

Actually, I had heard so many great things about the KoKo puffs, but I was a little disappointed. Some of the other desserts looked fabulous, though. The press pot of Kona coffee was great if you like strong coffee!

Thanks everyone for the clarification!!

Thanks SeaSpray for the website!! After seeing all those good looking desserts, I may go for something different.

I think we will get a couple of desserts to split. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the best desserts at Kona are. The Carmal-Banana Creme Brulee sounds good
:D !

Thanks!
Katie

I had the Ko Ko puffs for the first time in May. They were delicious! The cream in them is not whipped cream but that other stuff that I have always heard of but never had. Some kind of english cream or something. I was so good!

Thanks skiwee1 !

I've decided they have too many good desserts to skip. So we are going to just order appetizers & several desserts (including the KoKo Puffs).

I'll have my Kona Cafe desserts review up tomorrow night, but the new chocolate macadamia nut pie is AMAZING. It was like a fantastic pecan pie but with macadamia nuts instead, chocolate, caramel sauce, and coconut ice cream.

I had the Koko Puffs and DH had the Banana Creme Brulee. I love cream puffs, and although I ate all my dessert, it was not the best I've ever had. The Creme Brulee was better. The best, though, was the Chocolate Mousse dessert at Ohana next door. My hubby even went back and got me a Choc Mousse to go one night. I ate it on the beach at the Poly watching the Electric Water Parade. Heaven!

Forever42~ I'm looking forward to hearing your review of Kona. I've read several of your reviews & I really enjoy them & the photos!!

Agree! Ate lunch there this afternoon and had it for the 1st time. Excellent with the pressed pot. DD and DW shared the puffs. DD really doesn't care for the marzipan or whatever the beige colored substance is on top of the puffs but loves the rest.pirate:
