Knowledge of DFW airport and switching planes?

We got excellent airfare prices from Houston to Orlando. Round trip for $109.24 per person on Delta. Here is the problem.....We will be flying from Houston to Dallas, then Dallas to Orlando. We have NEVER flown anything but non-stop before so I am really nervous. Our flight to Dallas arrives at 12:25 pm, our flight from Dallas to Orlando leaves at 1:20 pm. That gives us only 55 minutes to get from one plane to the next, and that's IF our plane arrives on time. I wasn't worried until friends and relatives started saying how difficult and confusing DFW airport is. Now I'm not so sure 55 minutes is enough time. I should add that we will have 6 people in our party and 4 of them are children. Do you think we will be okay? And what about our luggage? Do we have to get our luggage when we land in Dallas? If it goes straight through (our luggage) where will it be when we get to Orlando? Thanks for all your help!

I live in the dfw area, I dont think Dfw airport is that confusing (but I have been around it my whole life). I think you will be fine, your luggage should get transferred for you, so you dont have to worry about that. Are both of your flights on delta, I mean the one arriving in dfw and the one departing from dfw. If so, both should leave from the same terminal, you will have no problem getting from gate to gate. The only time it is a problem is when you have to change terminals (they are huge).
There is a terminal guide at www.dfwairport.com that you can look at and get yourself familiar. Also there is usually a gate attendant standing there as you get off the plane who can tell you which way to go. Hope this helps, dont worry too much, you will be fine!

Thank you maci for your quick reply. I just finished looking at the terminal guide, thanks for the web site. Yes, we will be flying with Delta from Dallas to Orlando. We will be staying with Delta for all segments of our flight. I'm glad to know that will make our tranfers easier. Thanks again maci, you have put my mind at ease!!!!!
