Getting a haircut, having someone see it for the first time, notice it, and just stare at you as they say, "Oh, you got a haircut..."

:headache:

I literally ran to the closest mirror to be sure I wasn't missing a large chunk, or to see if part of it was sticking up.

Nope, looks like it is supposed to.

What? No, "looks good"? I'd even take a, "looks bad"!!! I just had a haircut, people, I am vulnerable here!!!

It's almost worse than nobody noticing at all...

Do you love it? That's all that matters.

Nah, believe me, that is worse.

I just had my brunette hair that has had blondish highlights done in a red/auburn. So far, with the exception of my husband and kids (who all love it, as do I) NO ONE has said anything. Not one person. Not my in laws, not my friends, not some of my daily acquaintances, no one! :headache:

I would assume that it is because they are following the "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all" but I am pretty thick skinned and it has humored me more than upset me. I absolutely love it so that is all that matters. I feel like a spunky redhead! (well, a fat, limping, spunky redhead )

And really I have done some pretty drastic things to my hair in the last year-- getting about 10 inches cut off, growing out my 80's bangs, getting a very funky layered cut (that was awful!) and several color/highlight attempts so I think that all the changes are just starting to blend in and after the initial shock of getting all the length off nothing else really stands out now, even though this is a pretty drastic color change.

Actually the very worst is when you do something and your spouse or BFF look at you and  and then very slowly and diplomatically say "So, what do YOU think of your new haircut" or take one look and :rotfl2:. (confession: that was me when my BFF at the time accidentally ended up with a bit more purple in the dye than she wanted and her hair was PURPLE. I burst out laughing as soon as I saw her. :rolleyes1 )

As long as you love it that is all that matters. And I always figure it is just hair, it will grow out and hats and scarves are great accessories!

I am really horrible when it comes to noticing other peoples hair. I wash and air dry my hair, I just brush and go. It's not that I think their hair looks horrible or anything, just not my thing. I am looking at the person not the individual parts I guess.

i'm sorry, OP, i know how you feel, sort of-i've got the same problem in reverse. i had my hair cut, colored and highlighted (first time for color and highlights) about 3 weeks ago, and EVERYONE has raved about it and told me how great it looks-one of the band dads even told me i'd taken 10 years off!
so, this has left me with the feeling that my hair must have been really hideous before, and i'm ashamed of myself for waiting so long to make a change!

Telling a woman anything about her hair is dangerous.
I apparently insulted a coworker when she came in with beautifully shaped, curly, shiny hair, and I said "your hair looks nice". Seems she has naturally curly hair, hates it, overslept and didn't have time to straighten it that day.
Spends like 30 minutes a day straightening it. She's very attractive either way, but stunning with her hair the way it is naturally.
