We are staying at Disneyland (OP) within walking distance so no car. What is the best way to get to Knott's Berry farm for a one day trip?

Also, does anybody know how to get a detailed map of Knott's which has the opening times for the various roller coasters and restaurants (I have heard that they aren't all open at the opening) before going to the park? I think I'll call the main gate today.

I am so excited to see the Mystery Lodge show! I saw some clips on youtube and I am prepared to be amazed! I love knott's... good old fashioned fun.

P.S. Any other Knott's tips would be appreciated...feel free to hijack thread with anything! It's been 5 yrs since we were there last so I'm sure alot has changed. We are going on a friday April 8th.

The Metro is exactly how we got to Knotts and back again last June. It was EASY! It picks you up on Harbour in front of DL maingate. Drops you back there again. It was $1.65 IIRC one way. Takes about 15-20 min. The bus is about a block away from Knotts gates. There are also willing cabs to return you to DL area for about $25.00

I went with 4 graduating highschoolers. We had a great day.

There are entrance vouchers on line that are reduced fee for entry if you purchase before you go. We just printed out tickets in the am before we went! Also there is a great add-on: Joe Cools Backyard BBQ. We bundled this with reduced admission and got our combined tickets for $42.

The BBQ was all yiou can eat enormous with salads, hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken and Ribs. Also beverages and pie or ice cream treats. For a big midday meal when we couldnt dash back to the hotel for lunch it was a great alternative. The meal is served inside a cooled barnlike building.

Thanks so much! It sounds lovely.. unfortunately half of our party are vegetarians :headache: Any other foodie recommendations in the park?

The LA County bus system runs a bus between downtown LA and Disneyland that stops at Knott's Berry Farm. That might be the cheapest way to get there. Schedule and map here: http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/bus_overview/images/460.pdf

The stop at DL is on Harbor Blvd next to the tram/shuttle entrance.

Thank you so much! I will definitely be using this info

I've also used the 460 bus to get to Knott's...it's safe, super-easy, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than taking a cab :thumbsup2

Do you need to buy the bus tickets in advance, or can you pay the busdriver?

Also, is the busstop on the way to KBF on the same side as the way back?

For MTA buses (like route 460), you pay as you board. The cash fare is $1.50 per person between DL and KBF. You can use dollar bills in addition to coins, but no change will be returned.

The "main" Disneyland 460 stop is for buses traveling both ways. To get to KBF, you board the buses marked "Downtown LA".

You might find that other stops are more convenient for you. The second stop for 460 buses going toward KBF is at Disney Way. The third one is at Manchester.

There should be a system operating on board the bus that announces and displays upcoming stops. The KBF stops are at Beach and La Palma. Unfortunately, both are on the "wrong" side of Beach Blvd, meaning you must cross it whether going to or coming from KBF. Going to KBF, the stop is on Beach Blvd, just after the bus turns right from La Palma. Returning to DLR, the stop is on the KBF side of La Palma, just after the bus turns left from Beach Blvd. See http://SoCalFun.biz.ht/dlr2bp.html

We went the opposite direction. Stayed at the Radisson suites near Knotts and used their free shuttle to both Knotts and Disneyland.

If you can go there before DL, I would recommend it. It felt kind of run down after going to DL for a few days.

On the day that we will be visiting KBF, the hours will be 10-8. So questions I have are:

How soon should be plan on being there in advance of park opening?
How soon should be be at the bus stop to catch a ride to the park? Does one stop by every 15 minutes, for example?
How late do the busses run, if we wanted to stay till park closing?

I'd suggest printing the schedule (link above) and keeping it with you. Your best bet would be to check the metro.net web site to see if there's a more current schedule.

We are staying at the Radisson. They are SO NICE.
BUT we are leaving our Quality inn hotel WTH LUGGAGE and then going to radisson and staying there a few nights.

So I dont want to take the BUS with 3 people and 3 suitecases (carry on size)
so with that in mind how much WOULD a cab cost to go from katella ave (quality inn and suites anaheim) to the radisson...

How far is the radisson from Knotts?? just a block or two right??

Raddison is walking distance to Knotts. Like a block or so.
