Hi everyone,

We are heading to the States in Dec. It's going to be an amazing trip with both Disneyland and WDW on the ticket. But we will also be going to Universal Studios Hollywood and Knott's Berry Farm (Dec 10 and 11).

We haven't been to Knott's Berry Farm in thirteen years...and there seems to have been a few changes. lol

Does anyone have any tips for visiting Knott's then?

Thanks

I'm going to be moving this to our So Cal theme parks board. I'll come back with my thoughts (plus we've been talking about Knotts on our Podcast), and I'm sure other DISers will chime in. :)

My best advice is don't go.

Last time we wer there (4 years ago now, so it may have changed) all it was was a bunch of unaccompanied kids running around cussing, cutting lines, and just causing total chaos and no one from Knott's even attempted to do anything about it.

It is also loaded with gang members all the time. When we left they had a bunch of police outside and they had a bunch of gang members sitting on the curb waiting for the paddy wagon. A gang fight had broken out inside Knott's. There were more cops inside looking for more of them. My wife and I said that was it for Knott's, last time there, unless we hear they have gotten it cleaned up, which we have not heard yet.

They even did a metal scan when we entered the park with a scanner. So it seems they are aware of the problem, as security was heavy, but it did no good as they got in anyway.

I didn't have any issues with gangs (as someone that would be on the lookout for that) and all the people we encountered were fairly nice (you will always have the kids that aren't being watched well). We went in the summer of 2013. Because we had such a great time, we are going back in December of this year after 3 days at DLR- we are even staying at the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel because you literally walk back to the hotel. On the walk back last summer we had ZERO issues with people bothering us, police activity or anything else and we closed the park down basically so 10 PM ish? Hopefully we both have the same good experience this Dec :)

We have never had trouble with gangs either... We have gone the last two summers & loved it!!! The only tip I have is that they sell a refillable drinking cup that after you purchase it the refills are free for the entire date of purchase as long as you are wearing the wristband & keep your reciept. Its a great savings as in summertime you drink a lot & drinks are pretty expensive in the parks. The bottles are $9.99.
