We may have an opportunity to go to knoebels for the first time ever tomorrow and would like to know what are your must dos?

The Phoenix!
Carosel(get the ring!)

Save your money on black diamond. That's a DUD IMHO and they charge extra for it if you do the pay one price plan(which you can buy for $5 off at Wegmans)

The bumper cars!! We ride those a few times every time we're there.

And I agree with the carousel to grab the rings (you have to be on an outer horse to reach them)! If you grab a gold one they announce your name at the end of the ride and you get a ticket for a free ride. Side story here -- when we were at Knoebels last year, our then 7 yo DD wanted to grab those rings on the carousel (she has seen her older brothers and sister do it for years) but her reach was still just a few inches short. I would stand beside her and hold on to her as she stretched as far as she could to grab them out of the "dispenser". We did this at least 3 times that day. On our last ride of the day, after a few passes, a worker noticed that my DD was just a little too short so she (the worker) grabbed a handful of rings and held one between two fingers in her outstretched hand. She stood just close enough to the carousel so my DD could grab a ring each time we passed her. My daughter was thrilled and giggled for the rest of the ride. I was in tears and my husband and I made sure to go thank the girl after the ride was over. Just a little pixie dust to make our day complete.

Rides I try to avoid: The motor boats -- the line is always long and slow and the boats move really slowly, too. Oh, and they aren't on a track and it seems like someone always manages to get lodged in the canal and cause all the boats to back up. As the PP said, the Black Diamond really isn't worth the extra cost and neither is the haunted house.

We like to eat dinner at the Alamo restaurant. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. It's a nice change of pace from the typical amusement park food.

Thanks DH spend the day in Syracuse, NY and are heading home to NJ tomorrow and was thinking of making the stop. Well e decided to save this trip for another weekend where we can take advantage of their campground for a night so we can have more park time.

Just be aware that the campsites right at the park tend to book far in advance. I know several families who camp there at various times throughout the summer and they book a year ahead of time.

I was just lamenting last week that I don't have time to go to Knobles this year. I'm sad to hear that Black Diamond is a dud. Loved it in Wildwood.
Defiantly don't miss Phoenix and Twister. I also love Haunted Mansion, classic dark ride. Hopefully Flying Turns will open when you are there. Give it a try and let us know how you like it.
As far as food, you can't beat the prices and I think they won an award this year. I have an early dinner in The Alamo, sit down restaurant, and then snack on waffles and ice cream, funnel cake and caramel apples during the day.
Have fun!

Tonight they are having their staff party. So probably a good idea to skip it tomorrow.

Love love love knoebels. I know you said you weren't going tomorrow, but wanted to weigh in anyway. Gotta do the Phoenix and the Twister. If you have little ones, you need to do the big slide and the hand-powered rail cars and the train ride. To eat- my favorite are the pierogies, the cinnamon almonds and the icecream for sure.

Log fume
Shloosh
The Phoenix
Twister
My favorite is the sky slide.....it's in kiddie land but for all ages.

If ur kids are under 52 in.(I think that's right). The kub cars at great.

My other favorite is the pioneer train.

As another poster said....the brass ring carousel.

We live in Riverside, next to Elysburg so just a 10 minute drive away! My girls went this past Wednesday for the $10 ride night 6-10 pm. Pretty good deal, except the coasters, but they paid OOP because they have to go on Twister and Phoenix!!! They also like the Flume, new ride Stratosphere, galleon, powersurge, tilt a whirl, fandango, My ds12 doesn't like coasters, his favorite thing is Black Diamond (go figure) and the sky ride!!

I'm about 30 min away and I'll be there wednesday night (gotta love cheap night!) the stratosphere is insane!! I still can't believe I went on that! and like a PP said.. skip the black diamond.. make sure you get some pizza.. its awesome! :thumbsup2 actually all the food is!!

by the way the min height for the phoenix is only 42" my 4 yr old went on for the first time last month!! He loved it just hold on to your little ones on the bunny hops at the end!

I would say:

1. the Phoenix - great wooden coaster

2. antique cars - really long track

3. motor boats - line can be long, but get there early

4. the flyers - not sure what they are called, but lots of fun!!!

5. both train rides

Their soups are sooo good. I always check out the soup of the day.

Have fun!!!

funny thing.. we went once by accident on the night of their staff party (no difference in lines) .. they had Nick Foley there that night as well. I guess as a special guest for them to meet.. it was strange seeing someone famous at knoebels!

We just went this week for the first time and LOVED it! Such a family friendly park.

Because it was the middle of a heat wave, we packed coolers with sandwiches and drinks. After lunch, dh carried our smaller cooler of water. There is tons of seating and the food prices are reasonable. We had ice cream and dinner in the park.

I have two nonriders in our family, so Knoebel's was a really good deal for us. Weis supermarkets sells $20 ticket books discounted to $16. We bought three books and probably could have used one more. The wooden roller coasters were awesome! The small metal coaster, which looks like a kiddie coaster, is actually pretty rough, imo. My son said Black Diamond was a waste. The bumper cars were a lot of fun but I really didn't like the bumper boats.

There was a really good musical group in the bandshell while we were there.

We also finished the day at the pool. I don't think the pool is a must do, but I live in an area that doesn't have a public pool, so my family really enjoyed it.

There are also small museums in the park which I didn't get to visit...maybe next time!
