Reading the post on Hershey Park got me interested in Knoebels Amusement Park. It says that there is no admission fee - so they must use a ticket system? How does that compare with the cost of a park that has a one time admission fee when you enter - do you end up paying more or less for the rides? I would think it could get more expensive especially if you want to ride something more than once.:confused3

How is the park as far as the grounds are considered. I found Hershey Park to be well kept with pretty flowers, etc. and the food was good though expensive. How is the food at Knoebels?

My family lives 10 minutes from Knoebels and we try to get there multiple times during the year. We love the free admission and the ticket system. You can buy a ride all day pass, but only on weekdays. Weekends are normally for only tickets. For my family, the tickets work out great. We do not ride a lot of rides. We will ride the coasters one or two times and a couple other rides. We save money by not buying the all day handstamps.
The park itself, I have found is kept in better condition then the majority of parks that I have been to, including Hershey Park. The quality of the food is better and cheaper, but is slowing increasing to match food prices at Hershey and Dorney.

As for ticket prices, kiddie rides are between $0.75-$1.00. Coaster are $2.25 All other rides are somewhere in the middle. Lines are normally short.

Our AAA store sells discount ticket booklets for $4.50 for a $5.00 book of tickets.

If you have more questions, let me know.

I would take Knoebels any day over Hershey.

They have good rides and get voted best park food every year.

They have the best funnel cakes ever, they are freshly made while you wait.

You don't pay any parking and only pay for the rides you want to ride.

We get a bunch of tickets from AAA and they don't expire.

Most of the park is under trees so there is a lot of shade on warm days.
They don't have the hills that Hershey has so it is nicer to walk around.

You wil have a great time if you go.

We have been Hershey Park Pass holders in the past and are not getting them this year. We paln on going to Knoebels this year to chekck it out. Has anyone ever camped at the Knoebles campground? Can you just walk to the park from there? Also, is it noisy there being so close to the park?

I had questions about the campground too - so am awaiting responses. Do they have cabins and how many people can fit in one? Pets allowed or not?

Don't know about camping at all. But I do know leashed pets are allowed in the park so I would guess they allow them at the cabins. oops just looked and no pets in the cabins- They sleep up to 6 according to the website.

It's killing me that we can't go opening day APRIL 24th! It's buy one get one free wrist band day and they are only $20 that day!
Great discount.
Scope out the website they have POP days on some weekends as well- it's very random.
Have fun and we love Knoebels!

Living so close, we have never camped there, but the campground is in walking distance of the park. You can easily see the campground from a couple of the rides.

They do have cabins that sleep 6 to 16 people depending on the size of cabin that you get. All the information is on the knoebels website.

I went to knoebels for the first time last year and loved it. Loved it so much that we are going back this year for the 4th of july weekend, camping for the first time. We will be camping at their sister campground.. lake glory.

Food for us was surprisingly good and cheap... chicken and corn on the cob, I think it ran us 12 for the 3 of us...

Loved the park, it was clean and open. Think back to the 60's old time amusement parks. I saw a pool there, but didn't go in. Jenna doesn't go on many rides, always the tame ones... but there were nice rollercoasters for the people that love them, and I know that they were building one that hopefully will be open this year.

Their website is great, shows the rides. Free parking, free admission, clean and cheap.. can you ask for more?:lovestruc

I've camped there and loved it! We pitched a tent but I saw lots of campers and rvs. We looked into the cabins but decided against it just because. The camp ground is right next to the park and pools, absolutely within walking distance. You can park your car right at your campsite and we didn't use ours the whole time we were there. I will warn you, we camped at the beginning of August and it got very chilly at night, nice and summery during the day, but 1 night it got so cold that we slept in our car!!! Also, when we went, we stopped at the small store on site and grabbed a loaf of bread, and right on the loaf, there was a $5 off coupon for the wrist bands, which are like $25 or something like that. When we went, we had a really nice window person, who got into a conversation about the military and gave us free wrist bands because we are military vets! :woohoo: IDK if that's their policy or if he was just being very generous or what, but it saved us 3 adult wrist band prices! :confused3 If you want to know anything else, I'll try to help! Also, check out their website.

Knoebels is awesome! You'll love it!!! As for camping there....if you didn't plan months or even a year ahead and reserve a cabin or camping spot...you are most likely out of luck. There are other camp grounds not too far away, but cannot remember the names. There are not enough hotels nearby either....That would be the only problem i have with Knoebels....We live close enough to do a day trip, but would really love it if we didn't always have to drive home at night....it's still over a 2hr. drive...

Thanks for all the great camping information. I am going to call soon to book our trip!

:cloud9:

Love Knoebels.

You will too!!

We went to Hershey for Easter. I like it there too, but it is very expensive:headache: The food is NOWHERE as yummy as Knoebels.

it's a great park. We went last year and stayed in the campground with our camper. The park has everything you need for young and old and the food is great. The pool is also nice. We also went in one night for discounted bands and that worked out great then got tickets the second day.

Knoebels has 2 campgrounds. The one that is within walking distance does not have full hook up sites if anyone is interested in them.

They also have Lake Glory that does offer full hook up sites. I haven't been there in years but i remember the sites being bigger. They have a free shuttle that runs to the park.

Both are reasonable just like the park. This is the only park i have been to that you can afford to eat at. If you don't want to there are lots of tables where you can have picinic.

Great Place!

I have not camped at Knoebels, but I used to work there and go back to visit every summer. The original campground is literally right across the road from the park. It can be a little noisy, depending on when you like to sleep. Lots of trees act as a sound barrier, and the park usually closes by 10ish at night.

One thing I did want to mention. Several years ago, Knoebels bought Lake Glory campground, which is NOT within walking distance of the park. I believe they might offer a free shuttle to the park, but I'm not positive. Lake Glory is much quieter since it is out in the country, but you will have to deal with driving and parking every day (unless you use the shuttle). Just be careful and clarify that you want to camp at the campground next to the park. I know it's sometimes hard to get a campsite at the park campground, especially for the weekends. Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Another poster mentioned about the discount coupons for ride wristbands on the bread. I believe it's Holsum bread (in an orange bag) that has them, and this bread is available at the local grocery stores as well.

Knoebels does have delicious food (and I'm a very picky eater). They win the Golden Ticket award for their food year after year and have a large variety of items without much repetition. As an adult I eat my way around the park, more than I ride my way around anymore :rolleyes1.

Does anyone know if they have any planned activities at the main campground? Also, has anyone rented one of their cabins? We usually tent camp but are thinking of making things easier this time around.

Thanks for clarifying that! I'm from MD so I couldn't remember the brand and I didn't know it was in local stores as well. :cutie: Hopefully someone can benefit from that info.
