Knee replacement question

I had a knee replacement and we are going to Disney on May 24. I already know that I am going to set the detecters off at the airport, ugh! Has anyone else had a knee replacement done and what has your experience been? Do you just tell them and they take the wand over your leg or do they do a more extensive check? This is scares me to death:scared1:

Before you get to the detector tell the TSA person what yo have had done. I have seen then take the person through the walk through and then wand them. If there are no problems then that should be all that happens. Just be sure to tell them and they will take care of you ( or at least at the Bham AL air port they are very good about helping).

No knee replacement... but I have two hip replacements and one shoulder, if that counts, lol.

Just tell them at the security gate that you have a metal implant and they will take you over to an enclosed area where a person of the same gender you are will be called over to use the wand. They also give you a full-body pat down using the backs of their hands. The person doing it will say something to you every step of the way, usually -- "Okay, now I'm going to use the back of my hand to pat down along your chest area" to be sure you're not startled or uncomfortable. It's really very easy.

See that is what I don't want lol! I will have shorts on, they can see the huge incisions down my knee. They can take the wand over me, but I really don't like some stranger touching me. UGH!

I will be traveling with my husband and five young children, one has cerebral palsy and I don't think separating us for my husband to take all five children through himself is going to be good lol.

So dreading this

Thank you both!
