My mom had total knee relacement on Oct 11. She did great and did better than expected with walking and range of motion, was back to work Nov 18th. Now last week all of a sudden while sitting at her desk, the back of her leg starts with servere pain (she has very high tolence to pain) and swells up and she can't walk. We get her to the DR's, her primary and they do xray... which can't find a blood clot but can check knee itself. They say they do not believe its a clot ???? not sure how they ruled that out without the proper test but they sent her home with pain meds and a scheduled ultrasound the next day, which can find clots. She goes to that, by now the pain is less. She doesgo to see her surgeon who says everything looks fine and sometimes this happens, its a BLIP and it can happen again, if it does, get it checked again to rule out clots. After a couple days, she is ok.
Five days later, yesterday, she calls me, is at work, was walking to the elevator and slam, same thing, can't walk, severe pain different place, now in front of leg on the knee. She calls and they tell her she can go to her walk in ER, we get her to the Dr's and they say they are not sure about the knee since they are generals, do an xray to save time for todays, but go see you surgeon tomorrow. She is there now. What the heck is going on?? We keep have to worry about a clot and they keep sending her home without the right tests for one.
I dont know if it muscles are having a hard time with the new material or what. They say no infection. Something has to be wrong there. Swelling and severe pain isn't normal this far out of surgery.
Anyone else know?? Any ideas?
