Kites for Castaway Cay?

A friend of mine cut out an article from Family Fun that says parents and children can make kites on the Magic or Wonder the day before you visit Castaway Cay and then fly them on the beach. Has anyone ever done this? We love flying kites and this sounds right up our alley...

i read that too! and yes, we've done it. it's really fun. they provide you w/nylon white "blank" kite, and there are special markers that you can use. it's held at animators palatte. you just basically decorate your blank kite, and that's it. the kids are all very "excited"...and it makes a great souvenir! we traced our DSs' hands and dated the kite, along w/their "scribbles", so they'd recall how big there were when they went. oh, you can even get a kite! i recall DH having one to decorate! it was a fun family event! just like family fun described in their magazine! have fun!

To cool! I am also bringing along a kite in case we are busy doing something else, but I will look for this event when we board!

Thanks! I never thought about bringing our own kites -- not sure if I'll have enough room after all my shoes! I think we will make it a point to decorate our own too. Is this activity posted in the Navigator?

yes, it is posted in the navigator. if i recall...it might be on a sea day. (i could be wrong!) i do remember it being in the morning...like at 9 or 9:30. we ate breakfast, and just casually headed there. like i said, it was a fun family activity...and they had boxes & boxes of kites! it didn't really take long, just maybe 30 min or so, depending on your child/ren. don't bring your own kite, go do this one!
