Hi,
We just got back from WDW. It was a wonderful trip. We ate at Beaches and Cream twice! The food was excellent as was the service. The ice cream was great. We did not order the kitchen sink either time, as we wanted to try the other sundaes. We each ordered a different one. While we were there, lots of people ordered the kitchen sink. I overheard 2 castmembers talking. They were saying that the kitchen sink is going to be removed from the menu, because of how much waste there is with it. People order it for fun, but most gets thrown out. I could not get a confirmation on this. I just wanted to pass it along in case anyone is going and would like to order it.

We went to B&C in December and we didn't even order the Kitchen Sink because it would've been too much after our meal, plus our 17 yr. old didn't like the fact that everything was thrown into it. He ordered a Milky Way sundae, I had the Strawberry Shortcake sundae and our 3 yr. old had a plain old two-scoop sundae and none of us finished our sundaes!

It just seem strange to me that Disney would worry about "waste"...you are paying about $23 for the Kitchen Sink after all.
Just my opinion...

My son want's to get the KS on our next visit. I know we won't come close to eating it all, but I'm sure he'll have a blast trying to.

As long as customers why are willing to pay for it, why should Disney care how much of it get s eaten?

I would wager to bet that most people ordering the kitchen sink don't "pay" for it. They take advantage of vouchers. In fact, my husband and have been to Beaches and Cream on three different occasions since January, and on each visit we have witnessed three or four kitchen sinks being delivered to tables. Each time a voucher was used for payment. On our last visit, a father ordered the kitchen sink for he and his daughter. She was "embarassed by the attention" and literally ran out of the diner. He was left to eat it by himself. Needless to say, he didn't make a dent in it. When it came time to pay....voucher. Perhaps Disney should just eliminate the Kitchen Sink as one of the dessert options when using a voucher. I bet this would drastically cut down how many are ordered (and wasted!). I would imagine that most folks willing to pay for it would have enough people(at least four!) there to tackle it, and as posted above, if folks pay hard dollars for it, I'm sure Disney would not care about the waste.

Just my humble opinion.

We always order the No Way Jose and split it! Yum! Of course, we have toyed with the idea of a Kitchen Sink for our "big family" trip later this year. Seven of us should be able to feast on it with some success!

The new vouchers that expire May 2004 do NOT include the Kitchen Sink.

I know I am going to look stupid, but what voucher is everyone talking about?

We tried the kitchen sink last May, 2 adults and 2 kids (2 & 5). We could not put a dent in it. IMHO it is a total waste. There is just too much stuff in it to enjoy any ice cream. Now, give me a No Way Jose sundae any time and I could polish that off, no problem.

what voucher is everyone talking about?

When we had them we purchased them through "Connections". Now you can get them through other sources as well like "Deal Pass". The voucher would provide you with a pre-paid meal for a person, but a Beaches and Cream, a lot of people would split a meal so that one voucher would feed two people. Dessert came with the voucher and the kitchen sink was included in the dessert choices.

We ordered a kitchen sink from B&C last summer -- 2 families (4 adults and 5 kids). It doesn't make sense to order it and waste it. We all ate a very lite lunch followed by dessert. The looks on the faces of the kids when it arrived was worth every penny. Yes, we ate every single bite. We can hardly wait until we can take a large group and do it again. It was a blast!

I'll be trying B&C this summer and I'm gonna have to order a sundae. I've seen those pictures of the kitchen sink and know that my family couldn't make a dent in it. It would be great though to watch others try!!!

As for the novelty of it, I would have paid full price to see the looks on my kids faces when the Kitchen Sink arrived (we used two vouchers for four of us, and plan to use four vouchers for eight of us in April). So long as they keep it on the menu, I will pay for it when I take my neice and nephews as well, there is just something about things being larger than life at Disney!;)

We are a family of 5 with the 3 kids 3 and 2. It will be cheaper for us to order the kitchen sink than to order ice cream and sundaes for the 5 of us. It is amazing how much junk food that a child can eat. I don't think ordering the kitchen sink and leaving part of it is any different than say going to a buffet and taking way too much on your plater and leaving half of it. And really how many times are you going to go and order the kitchen sink? The look on the kids face to see that giant ice cream bowl has to be priceless.

I'm a Brit, and it's well known over here that Americans serve huge portions of food:D , so for you all to be saying how hard it is to make a dent in, it must be AWESOME! Anyone got a photo of one? I am hoping to visit B&C this Easter - definitely got to go now to see this (but I daren't order one, by the sounds of it!):jester:

Here is a picture that I found of the kitchen sink. My DH and his family (6 adults, 1 child) will attempt to put a dent in it this Easter break! :)

Thanks for the photo. That is an AMAZING ice-cream. I've just shown it to my DH and children, and we are all gob-smacked! You have my full admiration - hope you and your family succeed in finishing it!

1. Disney does not seem to be overly concerned about waste in other areas. Example: Disney dollars are not "recycled." Every Disney dollar that's purchased is brand-new, and once it's spent, it is destroyed. They want every Disney dollar to be crisp and new.

2. If they really are concerned with wastefulness, why don't they cut down the size of the Kitchen Sink instead of doing away with it? Of course, that would also decrease the interest in this particular desert.

3. From a family's point of view, it is less expensive (or at least equally expensive) for a family to order ONE Kitchen Sink rather than four or five individual sundaes.

4. From Disney's point of view, there's no way that much ice cream (purchased in bulk) could cost $23 -- they're making a good profit on it. Even with vouchers, they're breaking even.

We just received our quick & casual's from connections. The new ones expire on May 31, 2004. On the back they list the valid restaurants. Beaches and Cream Soa Shop is listed with an addition in (): Not valid for "KITCHEN SINK" dessert.

The kitchen sink dessert was a hot addition to ebay sellers discriptions. It added an extra $21.00 to the meal value, which brought the total dinner price in their descriptions to over $40.00 each. Disney just brought that total down by about $15.00 by cancelling the kitchen sink deal.

Does anyone know if there is somewhere that I can find a voucher that is good for this May that still includes the KS?

Maybe that is another reason that they would pull the kitchen sink from the menu....they are technically losing money if families are ordering the sundae. When we went to B/C just for ice cream, each of our sundaes for the 4 of us were about 5.99-7.99. It was over $30 just for ice cream. That was because we each got a sundae that we wanted. If we had ordered the kitchen sink, we would have spent less than that. For families that go there with even more people, Disney is losing out on a lot of money. If a group of 8 people order one kitchen sink (which would be more than enough food) then I could see why they would take it off their menu. I'm not saying that I am happy about that, or that I agree with it, I'm just saying that I can understand it.

Personally, I wish they'd make the arcade that is next door smaller, so that they could increase the size of the eating area for Beaches and Cream. There is not a lot of room there. It is a great place to eat and should be much bigger.
