Has anybody in here done any do-it-yourself kitchen redesign? I'm not a huge fan of the cabinets in my new home. I'm thinking about painting them eventually (and when I say eventually, it will probably be next year).
I'm planning to go with a seaside theme to my kitchen. I have decorations from my Disney Cruise. I have two blue pencil line drawings on ivory paper. One of Stitch and the other of Mickey and Minnie in hula attire. I also have a beach towel from Castaway Cay that hangs on the wall with similar colors (blues, pale yellows, etc.) They were in my kitchen in my apartment and am going to do the same in my house.
The current paint job is a muted red/pinky type of color. The dining area is part o the kitchen, it's essentially one long room. The appliances are white, the floor is a hardwood laminate. It's a nice warm color, kind of a golden honey. The countertops look like wood (not crazy about that either). The kitchen is immediately off of the front entry, and the dining area has an arch that leads to the living room.
I'm looking for any ideas for how to incroporate the seaside theme, including colors for the cabinets and walls. Any tips from people who have done this before. I just want to start collecting ideas now so further on down the line when I have a chance to do this I'll be prepared.
