I was wondering if anyone ever suffers with kinks in their neck ? I get then all the time, I'm about sick of it. I got a kink in my neck sunday and it has moved to my shoulder and my side, has anyone ever heard of such a thing, now I feel like my back is out. My neck cracks like rice krispys all the time has anyone ever heard of such ? I feellike my neck gives me problems all the time but I can't get a handle on what exactly it is. I also started having Vertigo about two yrs ago and that's been a living hell, but right now I'm good with that. Geez...anyone.

Have you been sleeping differently, maybe your head is twisted and that's causing it? Are you tense about something. Hope you feel better.

Have you talked to your doctor about it?

Since writing this thread my kink is all gone and I'm feeling somewhat good. After getting no responses I was beginning to feel like a freak...I suffer with vertgio and beleive that has something to do with it. I have spoke with my doctor many time, I think he can't stand me :rolleyes1

When this happens, try taking a calcium/magnesium supplement (twice as much calcium as magnesium). I heard about this from a naturopathic physician that I used to go to and it helps relax the muscles or something. Now instead of being stuck like that for several days, I can get it to go away quite fast. I usually take the supplement several times a day (like 3). I tend to sleep wrong every now and then and my head gets stuck... doh!

What brand do you get ? I will try this, my doctor almost seens to know nothing at all ever.

My naturopath didn't really specify a brand, just that the calcium should be twice as much as the magnesium. If you go to a supplement store, just ask for the cal/mag supplements. I've tried the GNC ones and they're ok, but not my favorite, I think because they also have vitamin C added in (I was not near my usual store and desperate!). Right now I've got 1200 mg of calcium/600 mg of magnesium and I usually take 2 tablets 2-3 times a day. If the one you buy is near that range it's fine, doesn't have to be spot on to those dosages.

I also live with one of those bed buddy hot packs on my neck as well when this happens. Moist heat is better than dry heat for some reason (can't quite tell you why!).

Using these remedies, my last kink lasted only about a day and a half and didn't prevent me from doing stuff like before.

Do you carry a lot of heavy objects? Often? This could be the source of your neck problem.

Try a chiropractor. They will likely take some x-rays and determine if your neck has lost some of its curvature or if you have any vertabrae out of place. I have neck and upper back problems and seeing a chiropractor definitely helps. It has also allowed me to sleep more confortably. Don't expect immediate results, but after just a few sessions your neck should show some improvement.
