We went to PKI last year and stayed at the Kings Island Resort. It was early season, so we got a good deal. This year we are going in late June and the value/price for KIR isn't that good.

So if you've been to KI recently, where did you stay and would you stay there again?

The last time we went we stayed in the campgrounds in a cabin. Actaully it was a room with a bed and bunkbed. We still had to go use the campground shower/restrrom facilities, but we were very close to them.
I have nothing but praises for the way we were treated. We were only staying 2 nights, but DS became VERY ill at the park after the first night. We hadn't even been there 20min when he started throwing up. The emergency people had to come get us because he was so sick. We spent over 2 hours at first aid waiting for him to start feeling better. The staff was great. They called and arranged for us to be able to come back on another day and also arranged for us to not be charged for the 2nd night because we had to leave for home. They transported us back to the campground and even gave us 'barfbags' for the ride home.

We stayed in either a Super8 or a Red Roof Inn in Mason once....NEVER AGAIN!!! I can't remember which it was but I remember it was aweful!!

My mom always asks if the hotel offers X-rated movies. If the answer is yes then she wont stay there because she has found those hotels to be very dirty and nasty. (Dirty bedding, not cleaned well) My parents travel alot which is how they came up with this. They also suggest staying away from most of the privately owned ones. (We actually just had 2 privately owned hotels get in trouble for mold/mildew in our area)
She says to check out package deals.

I would check if there is a shuttle to the park because if I remember right parking is about $9 or$10. I told Dh that if we decided to do the overnight thing again we would stay at KRI. I think the Holiday Inn Express was my next choice but it has been a long time since I have checked out any accomodations down there. Good Luck!!

Somehow I don't think Pembo would enjoy the campgrounds!;) Although, we have dome tented in the camground before and loved it! BUT IT'S NOT FW!:D

The company my husband works for has there company picnic there every year & we stay at the Embassy Suites. It is about a 10 minute drive to KI. We like Embassy Suites because they have the manager's reception/happy hour in the evening & breakfast (buffet and/or cooked to order) included. It is a nice/clean hotel. I'm not sure what the name of the exit is, but there are only 2 Embassy Suites in the Cincinnati area & the it's not the one on the river.

Have a great time!

I was going to suggest the Embassy Suites as well. The one deadheadbelle is referring to is the ES Blue Ash (513)733-8900.
You may also like the Comfort Inn (513)683-9700, the Winngate Inn (513)733-1142 or the Woodfield Suites (513)771-0300. I have stayed at Winngate and Woodfield. Neither is a resort by any stretch of the imagination, but clean and comfy with indoor pools.

Feel free to PM if you need other local information.

Tuffcookie knows me too well. No campgrounds for me, that comment about the "close to shower/bathroom facilities" scared me off. ;)

I'll be checking the other hotels listed. We are going during the week this time. We're just looking for clean, breakfast and a pool. :)

We stayed, last year for 39.99/night in Blue Ash at a place called Mainstay Suites. It was nice, but the pool isn't heated. Couldn't complain on the price and we had a kitchen in the room.

I'm agreeing with the Blue Ash Embassy Suites. Nice rooms with separate bedroom and sitting room. Mini fridge and microwave, free snacks and cocktails in the evening and a really good free breakfast buffet. Not just doughnuts and muffins. Real food.

The last time we stayed at the Kings Island Inn it was getting pretty run down. If they have remodeled in the last 5 years though, it is nice to be so close. They used to have a bus back and forth. But don't be thinking Disney transportation. When we did this it was more like a really old church bus, no AC, kinda stinky. Boy, I guess I'm really selling you on the Kings Island Inn, huh?

I just put the option out there:) If you notice I did say that NEXT time we were staying in a HOTEL...I don't want to shower with the spiders again:earseek::p The staff was really nice there though. We're not tent campers so we thought we'd try the cabins. (Actually sheds with beds:p )
I'm actually following along here for ideas in case we decide to visit again this year.

chager-I didn't know they had cabins for rent, so I did learn something. But no thank you for me. ;)

llebrekniT-We did stay at the KI Inn last year. No remodel. It was ok and the bus service was convenient. However we went to KI in April, so it wasn't crowded or stinky and the price was excellent. :p However this year it's June and I'm thinking we can stay elsewhere for cheaper.

I checked the Embassy Suites site ~ it is $109/nt for our dates. Not bad, but I'm trying to see if I can do better for cheaper. :) \\

catsrule - Hate to say this to you but I'm definitely not a cat person, so simba can sleep alone. ;) Very nice of popdaddy to offer your place for me though. ;)
