Holy Moley!

Rented it last night and it really seemed to go on and on and on....

Horribly unrealistic, even if you do not count the 25 foot gorilla and other enormous beasts. It almost seemed like a joke the director was playing. How many totally dire situations can we put the characters in...ones where they should die, but somehow escape unscathed? It's ok to do that a few times, but they really went overboard, I mean REALLY overboard.

I guess I really would not have given it much thought if it didn't seem like it was likely that the seasons here would probably change before the credits started rolling.

I know...I should have known better. It was King Kong, for petes sake. But still. I kept thinking, how much money did they spend to make this movie? They really should have cut it in half and saved a couple mil.

I wish I would have asked here before renting it because I cannot imagine very many people 'loved' this movie. Lesson learned. :lmao: :lmao:

I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way. As it turns out, I enjoyed the first 1/3 of the movie before you even see Kong better than the middle 1/3. The final 1/3, back in NYC, was good. But yeah, the whole middle hour of the movie was ludicrous.

Exactly. It almost seemed like they were trying too hard. Didn't really need so many creatures and action scenes...never thought I would say that, LOL.

I agree. I watched both the original and the remake within a couple weeks of each other but I just can't get the "girl loves and enormous ape" angle. I am a Peter Jackson fan, but he lost me on this one!

Come ON - how else will they keep the video game going...and going...and going...???

Be for real, PAW! :teeth:

My 12 year old son loves this movie - I knew I was a goner just from that fact alone. :rotfl2:

I am in the minority. I really liked the movie. Yeah, the middle was a bit dragged out, but overall I enjoyed it.

From the bits & pieces I saw, I thought it was awful. DH, who bought it, had such high hopes for it but disliked it for the most part.

I'm not a fan of Adrien Brody--I've never understood why some women find him so attractive? :confused3

Brianne - I don't know what it is about him. He's certainly not typically handsome. But he's attractive. It's weird.

Anyway, the bug scene was far too drawn out. I was hoping for the main characters to just die so it would hurry up and end.

The ice scene also....a few slides on the ice would have sufficed. Or at LEAST done something different than slide back-and-forth...back-and-forth on the ice. Sheesh.

But, really, overall I liked it. And my husband gave it an 8 out of 10 rating.

P&W...:lmao:

I popped it in last week and got up to the part when he asks the girl to be in his movie.
I haven't got the courage up yet to watch the rest...YET.
I will because there are dinosaurs in it. You SEE how they MAKE YOU watch it.:rotfl:

I bought this about 3 weeks ago, I never say it in theaters. I have yet to even open it.

I bought it, only because I was such a big Kong fan as a child.

Maybe now I won't be in such a big hurry to watch it.

Have you seen the original? It's pretty over the top as well. He kept the tone of the first movie.

Two scenes I did have a problem with were the dino stampede and the bug pit. Seemed lie he extended those out... because he could. Having those scenes that drawn out didn't help the movie and IMO they were not really well done. But to his credit, both of those secenes were written as part of the first movie and could not be done because of the limitations at the time.

As for the girl loves big ape part... I thought that was very well done and made the movie. Jack Black was pretty good as well and did a good job of paying tribute to the original character.

i agree completely.

a few weeks after seeing the pj version, we saw the original (in a theatre). i much preferred the original. shockingly, so did my dh (not a b+w movie kind of guy - he likes action films).

I saw this with my 12 year old son and he liked it a lot. I think that he can suspend disbelief easier than I can though.

It was rather bizarre while they were on the island. I saw the whole point of beast saves girl and so on but the dinosaur thing added nothing and the bug battle should have been brief.

I didn't care for any of the acting except Jack Black and for some reason I liked the ship's captain. I also liked some of the period costumes.

This movie had good and bad points IMO and I'm not sorry I saw it. I probably won't ever watch it again though.
