King Bed = more space in the room?

I am considering trying to get a king bed when we book our next trip. DH is six foot four and it would just be more comfortable for him - and for myself, I am not gonna lie! ;) So a few questions about rooms with King sized beds.

1) does it give you more space in the room?
2) would there still be a sleeper? I am assuming yes, but would 2 children age 7 and 5 fit on the sleeper?
3) we'd also have a crib or a pack and play - would there still be room enough for this?

:) Thanks!

Which resort are you looking at?

I'm pretty sure the king rooms all have max occupancy 3.

So even if they could fit it wouldn't work. The daybeds at GF are nice sized, but still I'd hesitate to say two kids could fit comfortably on it.

The room size is the same so there is a bit more open space with the king sized beds.

I've fit a Pac-n-play in even the smallest rooms on site, so I'm going with yes, there would be room for one.

Where are you staying? King Bed room at Sports did NOT have much extra room. I don't think a 3rd person could have fit in there with us.

We were originally thinking we'd like the GF. I am open to Contemporary. We did Poly last time so we'd like to try a new resort this trip.
We want to be on monorail for the sake of convenience with the baby.

I would go for Contemp with young kids, you can not beat being walking distance to the MK with that age group.

I'd call and see if they will let you do 2 adults plus 2 kids plus infant (right?) in a King room. If not, one decision is made for you.

I know in the values the max occupancy is 2 adults and 1 infant (under 2). I'm not sure about the Deluxes or Mods, but you might call Disney and ask if their kings with daybed/trundle are occupancy 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant or if they're the same as values.

Yes, they will be 7, 5 and about 18 mos depending on exactly when we go.

Is it a short walk? I like being on the monorail when the babies are in the stroller for the simple fact that we don't have to disturb them and we can just roll right on and off. But walking would be easy too!

We really wanted GF as we'll likely go when it's decorated for Christmas and I think it would be so pretty! I showed it to DS4 - we are going for his 5th bday celebration and he likes it b/c it's "red" his favorite color :) however, I bet he'd LOVE to watch the monorail come into the resort!

Also, we would like to to CG and Chef Mickeys and that would be very convenient. I would love to have a room to watch the fireworks (as I am not sure how late we'll stay out with the little one) but not sure if it would be worth the $.

I think you just helped me make my decision - and that's saying A LOT b/c I can never make a decision without over thinking every little thing! That's why I come to DISboards! ;)

So many little things that seem like such big things to consider.

A lot of (if not all) deluxes will allow this many in a king room. Here is the King room at CR description: They can accommodate up to five people plus a child under 3 who would use a crib.

To the OP; you have to request the king bed option; per the disney website, the rooms at the deluxes are either king or two queens.

They will provide the pack 'n play.

You might want to check on the three official threads, but I believe the rooms are slightly larger at CR and Poly, than at GF.

The posts stating you cannot book a king bed room with two children and an infant did not read your second post clarifying your resort level. That option is not available at values and moderates.

You are only allowed 5 when it is 2 queens and a daybed.

For a king room they consider that a room for 2 plus 1 under 3 in values, moderates and deluxe without daybed (AKL, WL). They allow 3 plus 1 under 3 in a king room at deluxe resorts that have a daybed.

They will not allow OP's family in a standard king room at any resort.

You could book a 1 bedroom villa in any of the DVC resorts. They all have king bed in the bedroom and sleep sofa in the living room. Some also have an extra twin size sleep chair in the living room.
