King Bed for 2 adults & 2 small kids?!!!

Just got a room at Carribean Beach. All they had left were King bed rooms. Has anyone ever gotten a king bed room for their family? Our two young children sleep in our king bed at home all the time. We don't mind, but are we allowed to do this? Is Disney going to deny us the room if the 4 of us show up? How strict are they about this?? Please help!!

I am surprised that CRO let you book the room. I tried to book a king room with the four of us (dd is in a crib--the other one still will sleep in our king bed at home on occassion) and I was told I couldn't do it- that I had to have 2 beds.

I don't see how Disney can tell you how your family should sleep. If a double room accomodates 2 adults - 2 children + 1 in a crib - then a king should accomodate the same. The rooms are the same size - and it's none of their business if your children sleep with you - can you tell my DD still sleeps with us? We even requested a king room our last trip so she could sleep with us and told them why. We ended up not getting it and I ended up sleeping with her with bed rails and DH by himself. But they told me I could call down and change the next day if a king room was available - I just decided it wasn't worth the headache of moving.

Have you considered letting your spouse take the kids for a walk or out to see the pool while you check in? That would certainly avoid the question of how many people are sleeping in X number of beds!

No it won't. All names will have to be on the reservation in order to receive "Keys to the Kingdom" for everyone in the room.

It doesn't matter that the rooms are the same size. Occupancy standards are set by the number of spaces for all people to sleep (including children).

It's more comfortable for me if we all four sleep in the king bed, otherwise, it's me and the two kids in one bed and dad in the other.

If Disney questions it, you could just play dumb.

I would keep your ressie and call every so often and see if any rooms with two beds instead of one king open up.

Is your ressie for room only? Because when I stayed at WL and Poly, DH was not with me when I checked in. (he was on diaper duty with our baby girl!)
They just gave me to two Keys to the Kingdom cards and didn't say they needed him to be with me. I would think that you could send DH and kids out of sight while you checked in if the kids don't need Keys as their passes.

We've booked king beds successfully elsewhere...can't recall WDW or not at the moment. If all are listed n the ressie, I would think you are ok.

This might be more of an issue right now. In the last week a couple was sleeping with their baby and had taken a sleeping pill? and smothered the baby. Big outcry down here in Miami regarding sleeping with your kids in the bed. May not reach up to Orlando but it might. WDW might be looking at the liability side to it if they allow you to do it??

We have always gone with my parents and booked one King, and one Double. Our family, DH, DD, and myself have always shared the King room. We always book room only. DD has never been issued a room key, as she would not be able to use it. (for door, or charging to the room) It has always been obvious that the child was staying in the King room. Once we had a porta crib brought in, and the other times, the stuffed animals and towel animals were done up special for the child in the room. This configuration just works best for us with my husband being 6'4", and me being a little chubby (especially this next trip ) the King is best for us. I think Disney tries to have this policy of the having the two beds, but the rate is the same, so I don't see why you can't sleep the way you would want to. Good luck!

How old are the kids? Are they old enough where they will need tickets? Do you have separate ticket media? If you are doing a package, your tickets will be on your room key so everyone would need a room key. If the kids don't need tickets, then I don't think it would be a problem. They may give you trouble with EMH, but probably not. Since they aren't old enough for a ticket (if that's the case) just say you didn't get a room key for them.

I can't answer for Disney, but when we stayed at the Portofino with our two small children, we requested a King size. They looked at us like we had lost our minds, but complied without complaint. I can't imagine that it would be any different for Disney. Good Luck!

I'm not too worried about keys and tickets. We are annual passholders. My children are too young to have keys of their own. It sounds like we won't have any problem with a King bed. I will keep checking on getting double beds anyway. When we have double beds my DH sleeps with one of the kids and I sleep with the other. Like I had said before we sometimes share our king bed at home.

I've NEVER been asked to see my room card to get into EMH. NEVER. We always just use the resort busses, therefore we don't have to stop at the TTC (I know they have to show resort ID there).

Never booked a room at WDW. When I tried booking somwhere else they told me it was the fire code. They didn't care how I slept it was the fire code issue. I would assume if you got there and they were worried about you violating code then they'd have to provide you with a room that met code.

The room occupancy limits are fire code issues. If Disney knew you had a party of four, they wouldn't have booked the king room.

With the new EMH, you WILL have to show KTTW cards to obtain wristbands for the night-time extra hours. We did this on January 2nd. We didn't do any early entry mornings under the new system, so I don't know if the CMs are checking KTTW cards at that time.
