OK, so I've been to Disney world about 8 times in the past 10 years and every time I request a king bed it never happens. Is it just impossible to get a king bed room? This time I'm staying at All star Movies Aug 14-22 and got a preferred room. Please tell me, what is the secret of getting a king bed??! Also how close are the preferred room located to the lobby/bus stop?

Alot of the king bed rooms are handicapped.

We got a king-bed at All-Star Music both of the times we stayed there when renting two rooms (connecting); we did not specifically request a king but did requred connecting rooms. One room had double-beds and the other had the king. I think we were told this at check-in to make sure it was okay; we did not have preferred rooms either.

At POR this past March, I requested a king-bed and got it only to find that it was a handi-capped room with no bath tub, just a shower. We wanted a tub so we moved to a different room but no other kings were available.

The preferred rooms are located in the Fantasia, 101 Dalmations, and Toy Story buildings. You should be a pretty short walk from the main building, but obviously some walks will still be a bit longer than others.

There really is no trick to getting a king bed room. If you have it noted on your reservation, that is all you can do now. You can also remind the CM at check in that you would like a king bed room. If you can check in early in the day that would probably help too.

I don't know if there's a trick, but I'm staying at ASMu in May and I'm praying that my request for a king bed will be able to be honored. Double beds are just not comfortable for two adults who are restless sleepers! I'll make sure to remind the CM when we check in. :thumbsup2

good question! We just got back from a stay at ASMu and had a nice suite- but it only had a double which kind of shocked me... since our 3 boys are very young we didn't feel comfortable leaving all 3 out in the livingroom anyway- so one of us spent every night out there, and the other in the double bed with 2 of the kids... so it worked out anyway- but would have been nicer to have a king for sure!

Just so you know, the bed in the bedroom of the Family Suite is a queen sized bed, not a double.

A room with a king bed will only sleep 2 adults, and one child under the age of 3. You can request a king room that connects to a standard room, but they cannot guarantee getting that set up.

OK so basically my main question is how far in advance i need to call the resort and make the request and what are my chances of getting it??

the king beds are in the handicap rooms.
if you want a king bed, call and have it placed on your ressie.

when you check in, if those rooms with king beds are avaliable, you can request it.

i had a king bed at all stars 2 years back.
i liked the bed, didn't care for the shower set up as much.

You should call no less than 5 days prior to arrival. All you can do is add the request and then hope for the best. As mentioned ask when you check in if there is a king available...... I find the nicer you are about things at the checkin counter the better your chances are that they will go out of their way to help you.

I would also suggest that you NOT do online checkin.....in my experience this lowers your chance of getting your requests. It's also easier to make a change to an assigned room if you are at the regular checkin counter.

The earlier in the day that you arrive the better chance you have of getting the king. As the day goes on and people check in the pool of available rooms gets smaller.
