Kindle touch users

Got a new Kindle Touch with built in WiFi. The books skips back to previous pages, sometimes to chapter one as I am trying to turn the page. Has happened many times now. Frustrating as I seldom know the page number I was on. What am I doing wrong?

I got a Kindle 3G Touch for Christmas too, but have not had the problem you're having. Hopefully you'll get others to chime in here, but I think you could go to tech support at Amazon.com and see if they can help. What you're experiencing would definitely be frustrating.

You mentioned page numbers, the book I'm currently reading does not have page numbers. I bookmark the page (gently touch in the upper right corner and a square "fold" will show up) and then it automatically starts back up there when I turn it back on.

Hmmm, I always thought the book automatically opened to last page read, with or without bookmark. Got a lot to learn about this.

When my kindle keyboard was doing that, flipping back pages/chapters, the support rep overnighted a new unit to me.

You bookmark it if the book is on multiple devices so that you can pick up any kindle in the home and read from where you left off. If you are only using once device, there is no need to bookmark.

I have a lot to learn about it too. I just assumed I needed to bookmark the page, as I do in a regular book. Guess not.

Ah, so that's what the bookmark is for. Duh.

I want to learn how to put music on mine. DH said it's capable of that so I need to read up on it more.

You don't need to do that either if you have syncing turned on on your account - it will ask you when you open the book on a different device - "do you want to sync to the furthest read location"?

Talked to the Kindle support team. Apparently, when you swipe from top to bottom, it brings you to the next chapter and when you swipe from bottom to top, it brings you to the previous chapters. So, my swipes were more bottom to top than they were from right to left. So, now I just tap the page to turn the page.

Had this issue, too, since I was used to swiping on my phone app. I decided to actually read the instructions (lol), and learned about the swiping up and down to go back and forth to other chapters. Now I just gently right tap.
