Kindle is now $259

The Amazon Kindle took a sizeable price decrease today, it went from 299 to 259. For those that don't know, this is one of the best e-book readers out there

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that is sooooooo tempting! I've been wanting one for a while & DH got me a Sony e-book last year. While I love it, it is so frustrating when the book I want to get is not offered on the sony site, or it is more expensive than a kindle book.

Still, I think I'm going to wait till the Apple tablet comes out. I think it is supposed to be a combo of a book reader & ipod. It will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype.

I love my Kindle but I'm really wanting to see the iRex that Best Buy is supposed to start selling soon.

I want something with ePub capability since our Library uses Overdrive and most of the good books are in ePub format. To get them on my Kindle I have to be a bit naughty with the DRM restrictions and my husband keeps telling me he won't visit me in prison.

Is $259 for the original Kindle? Does anyone know when Apple's version is supposed to come out? We were gonna get the Kindle for my MIL for xmas...maybe we should wait...

Guys check out sony reader. Honestly i think kindle is great but the fact that I get tons of free books online from my local library and can read them on my sony book Im currently reading dan browns the lost symbol wich I dl for free from the library a week ago I would have had to pay for it with the kindle. plus it just looks nicer kindle has a I want to be an ipod look about it =)

Well the "Apple Version" is the Apple Tablet which has been kept tightly under wraps on what it even does.

It is rumored to include an eBook reading capability as well as iPod capability and most likely internet access. It will possibly be for sale next Spring - but there hasn't been any announcements yet. It will likely cost somewhere in the $800 to $1000 range.

There are several readers set to launch over the next couple of months. Sony has a new model coming out, the iRex at the end of this month which will work with the library Overdrive system and download from Barnes and Noble online, Plastic Logic has one coming out soon too.
