dd mentioned she'd like a kf - didn't have a clue she knew what one was. She said she wanted it cause it was cheaper than an ipad. :goodvibes but did a lot of the same things.:scratchin

I'd love to buy an ipad - but not so sure I want to spend the $ - the kids have access to them @ school & with 2 of them have laptops I just don't see the purpose. Besides I'd feel like I'd need to buy one for all 3 kids if I did for one.
( we NEVER spend that kind of $ on 1 child).

BUT....then again I wouldn't mind getting an ipad ....:wave2:

but again we don't spend that kind of money on us either. UGH! technology is just too darn expensive!

Well, I just Googled an article that hammers every single aspect of NEW Kindle VS IPAD. Very enlightening.

Happy reading.

I'm not impressed by the new generation of iPads. They didn't advance enough and are overpriced. The new Kindle Fires, however, are pretty great. Also check out the Nook HD and Nook HD+ from Barnes and Noble.

iPads are like pedigree dogs - they cost more for what they are, but you are assured of quality!

My only issue with a kindle fire is I dont feel that Amazons apps are that great. I am getting a Galaxy Tab3...it was 299.00 at best busy....and it will run all the android apps and I can read my Kindle books on it...so if she wants to do more then just reading I would look into a tablet..

Now see that is the way I would go....:thumbsup2

You are assured that the Google giant is going to be around just like Apple with the IPAD.

I feel like Kindle and Nook are a gamble with "staying in business" so to speak with ALL of the new tablets and other products out there now.

Esp. Nook, with Barnes and Noble. To me that is dying product in danger of termination. Of course just how I see it but I cannot seek the Nook staying in business long term.

I just got a Nexus7 tablet; highly recommended. It's the Google tablet, made by Asus, running Android.

I will let you know. I bought myself a Kindle Fire over the weekend from QVC. It should get here sometime this week.

I will say that I love love my Nook HD+. I love that it has an sd card slot so I can add movies or save my work. I have a blue tooth keyboard and I also bought the office app to be able to work on the fly without my laptop around. I do mainly use mine as ereader but nice to have the options of streaming or internet play.

My Nook also runs on an android platform. I do have the 32gb because I wanted the most memory I could have. I'm actually buying another today as a gift. Target has the HD+ on sale for $149.

Now to figure out what kind of memory for books, music & movies....of course the random games too. Not sure there is enough memory.

If only they could play a DVD - that would make my decision so easy. :rotfl2: we rent from redbox quite often.

The microSD card slot is a big reason why I have a Nook HD. I like to read digital comics and being able to cart around 50GBs' worth all on a microSD is awesome.
