We don't have the Fire up here in Canada.

It appears (at least on the Dis) that everyone that is buying a tablet is going for a Fire down in the US. I thought it was because the Vox wasn't available down there, which I just found out isn't true.

I'm wondering what the difference is then. The only major difference that I noticed is that the Vox has expandable memory with a mini SD card. Which in my opinion would make more people choose the Vox over the Fire. So what am I missing?

I think a lot of it is the store that's backing it up. A lot of the iPads popularity where other tablets have failed hasn't been because their tablet is so above and beyond... it's been because Apple is backing it with their apps, music, movies, etc. And similarly, a lot of the reason Amazon seems to be doing well despite no one else being able to really dig into this market is because they have their store to back it up. In both cases, they were already fully developed stores. This is just my two cents, but it's my best theory.

My husband is a tech guy, and we've been trying to decide which tablet to get, and based on DH research, I think we've settled on the Nook Tablet. Dh ruled out the iPad (work gave him one, actually) because he just hates apple and dislikes the fact that all their stuff is proprietary. He is looking towards the nook tablet because unlike the kindle fire, you can use an SD card and you can buy the full range of apps from google, not just the ones on the Amazon store.

Of course we'll end up getting the Nook Tablet and a few months from now something else will come out and he'll decide that we MUST have that as well. :sad2: So it goes when he decides he must have the 'perfect' device

I'm eyeballing the Nook Tablet as well. I have the first edition non color Nook which I love.. played with the Nook Tablet yesterday and really liked it.
