I have a step-grandson who will be having a kindergarten graduation thingie this week. Would love any help on what to get him for a little gift. Open for suggestions.

Could you get him a backpack or some kind of school supply, for starting "big boy school"?

Maybe a graduation frame??? You can put his picture in it..then also give him a small toy (maybe Toy Story) to go with it.. this way he will have a keepsake as well as something fun..

As a mom to a Pre-K graduation boy and a K boy with a GREAT reportcard, we got them each a small lego set (about $20 each).

We knew that would make them most happy!

I think the book idea is good, also get him a small gift of something he likes.. my daughter has been asking for a pillow pet so I am going to get her that along with a barnes and noble 10 GC..she can buy about 3 or 4 books with that and she feels like a big girl getting to pick it out and pay for it.

Maybe just do something special??? Our "go-to" spot for occasions like this was out for an ice cream cone. We did it after all the major events in elementary and middle school.

my mother in law got our daughter a savings bond with a book. for our second daughter got her a barbie (they collect them together) and put money into her universal life insurance. both were preschool graduations.

I got our daughter a necklace and earrings. Didn't spend much got it under $25. She still wears it.

Is there anything special that he wants to do? I'd see about taking him some place special rather than getting him a small gift since this is a once in a lifetime occasion.

As a Kinder teacher I would say a book. My kids got reading awards at the end of the year and Grandma took them out for ice cream :):cloud9:

I agree that an experience is a great gift. It can be as small as an ice cream treat or a week-end trip somewhere. Kids get so much stuff that I love to give "to do" gifts!

MY DD just graduated Kindergarten and she received a mix of things. Please keep in mind that my DNiece just graduated high school the week before, so everyone felt they needed to get my DD gifts as well. She received many cards, 13 in all. She received $20 from my parents and the rest were $10 each from my aunts and uncles and her aunt and uncle on my side. I personally took her to the Beauty and the Beast traveling musical when it was here. Now my ex-dh's family didn't even send a card or anything. My exDH also took her to the movie of her choice and out to eat the celebrate. I think she enjoyed the experience much more, but if doing something with him is not an option, kids that age love to go to the store and pick out there own toys, so a gift card or a little money like $10 would be nice.

What about new clothes for the new school year? Every kid needs clothes. Or perhaps some books since they stress reading in school so much.
