I am newer to the DIS, I only have a few posts, but I have been reading the different boards like crazy! I have been reading a lot of negative things from the resorts, the dining, and even the parks. I am to the point that I am not all that excited about my trip next year and have also have thoughts of canceling our resi.'s. We have been to Disney before so we know what it is like, but from what everyone is posting seems like the magic is disappearing more and more each day, and I think what is it going to be like when we go back next December???
We are currently booked at CSR, with 8 day hoppers and the dining plan. I know how much everyone on these boards hate DDP, but it makes sense for us and then we don't have to worry about paying for meals. I did the OOP thing once and just dinner alone (salad, entree, and non alcohol beverage) almost pays for the DDP per day.

I just don't know if it is going to be worth my hard earned money, if the magic that was there last year isn't next year.

I think Disney is one of those places you have to experience for yourself. There is so much to see and do and everyone's tastes are different.

We have been 7 times in as many years and can't wait to go again!! We love Disney so much that some of our home decor is Disney and we are known as the Disney experts around here.

There will always be things to complain about, no one thing is perfect. Disney has THOUSANDS of people come through their parks every day and they do their best to make it a magical trip for everyone. It is hard to please one person, let alone THOUSANDS

Go and enjoy your trip and learn from it the things you didn't like and things you will do again and things you would like to do different next time.

Funny how people waste no time posting the negative, but rarely post the positive.

Add me to the list of those who still find Disney magical (and this coming from a guy who hates crowds and heat yet still goes in the summer) For me and my family the magic is there as strong as ever.

I have to also agree with the previous poster that it always seems that only the negative gets posted or reported. So I also say go, have a magical time, and let us know the GOOD things when you get back :earsboy:

We have had visits where we had a disappointing meal or 2 and everything did not go perfect. Our last trip was cold - they said the first time in 3 years they ever hit freezing, it rained, I got sick on the last day, it was crowded - it was still worth the trip and our favorite place. We can go there and forget about the outside world.

DDP - I believe most people don't like it on the boards because it has made getting dining reservations harder.

Most of the time, these boards are a great wealth of information. I'd say only a small amount are negative, but I would ignore them if they bother you. You can normally tell if a thread is going down the wrong path. :)

CSR is a beautiful resort. If you search for "I believe Buzz's" CSR thread, he has lovely pictures and great reviews of the resort. Just do a search on Coronodo Springs and you are bound to find him. His photos are so nice, that I was tempted to stay there.

As far as the dining plan, it's all what you make of it. I think the majority of people on here really like the dining plan and I've only seen a handful of negative theads about it...perhaps I don't click on the negative ones enough. Have you been on the Dining Board?

These boards are to express your satisfaction or disatisfaction, so I wouldn't get too upset with people offering negative reviews on things. Some of the negative reviews can and have been very helpful to my family. You have to take it with a grain of salt and do what is right for your family though. Go and have a wonderful vacation. :)

Hi FaberJ;
The only thing you have to be sad about is the long wait to go to Disney!!!!
Everyone has a different opinion on alot of things and they always will. Just remember what floats one persons boat is not going to float the next. To us Disney is such a special place and I believe that it is the most magical place to go to. Just think of all the memories you made there and how much you loved it... if you didnt you wouldnt have booked your trip for December!!!

Your staying at such a Pretty Resort & we think the Dining Plan is wonderful! I absoultey love it and so does my husband.... and let me tell you he can eat!

I hope that you are showered in Pixie Dust and it never stops falling on u.... Just remember there are new happy memories to be made, dont get depressed; be happy and think of all the wonderful things that are going to happen on ur trip!

I have been on most of the boards, I love reading the trip reports and dining reports. From what I have read, it just seems like so many are disatisfied.

DH and I were supposed to go this December as I have always wanted to go and see the Holiday decorations and attend MVMCP! But we decided to build a house (we are currently renting) and could not afford to do both so disney had to wait a year, which I was REALLY BUMMED about, but hey it is just a year. DH thinks I am a disney freak, I have lots of home decor and collectables that are disney. One of my cats is even named after a disney char.!!

I love to plan, so that is why I have been glued to these boards. With having the DDP, I wanted to try a few new places this time around. My DH loves Ohana's so I know we have to go there at least once. I also want to go to the afternoon tea at the GF, it just sounds like so much fun. We stayed as CSR last year while DH was attending a convention, we know it is beautiful and were planing on getting a king bed room as the two doubles were kind small seeing that we are used to a king size bed at home. We are both on the taller side and I tend to strech out at night. Anyway for the amount of time we spend at the resort, I can't justify paying the extra $$$ to stay at a deluxe (even though we did for our honeymoon) resort.

I am sure I am going to be back asking lots of questions and suggestions on what I should do.

I have ordered some new disney home decor from the disney outlet online and can not wait to get it!!

pixiedust: pixiedust: Here's a double dose of pixie dust for you. YOu will love CSR. My DH and i stayed there Sept 2006 for 25th anny. We loved it and plan on taking the kids next Sept 2008. We loved the DDP and are planning to use it again.
Don't let the nay sayers bother you. There are always a few. Your trip will be magical. :)

When I found the DIS boards in Oct 2005 we were one month away from our much anticipated trip .... I came onto the boards very excited and ended up SO worried by all of the people who were telling horror stories - saying how rotten the Values were ( we were staying at ASMo ) ... how inconvenient the DDP (which we were so very excited about - our first REAL family vacation and it was "all inclusive" ) .... Well , I was fretting about all of the negatives before we went but WE HAD THE TIME OF OUR LIVES !!!!!! As they say , life is what you make of it, and a vacation is, too. Now I have definitely read some negatives on the boards that were certainly upsetting and worth commenting about, but for the most part I think people might just be expecting a tiny bit too much perfection. Sure, a couple of CMs were less than friendly , not every meal was perfectly suited to our palates , the lounge at ASMo was smoky when you walked by at night , a couple of buses were crowded , yada, yada, yada. But we chose to overlook those little negatives and dwell on the MANY friendly CMs, the fabulous meal we had at Kona , the looks on our kids faces when the REAL Pooh and friends showed up at CP, our clean little movie-themed room (our Toy Story bedroom as our DS, three at the time, called it), our sweet smelling Mickey soaps, our high scores on Buzz, our favorite parade (MGM!), our monorail rides, our NINE rides on IASW (courtesy of DS3), our fabulous dinner in the castle (OK, I hated my food, but we were IN THE CASTLE! and dessert was yummy), etc etc etc ... Most of all it was *totally* Magical to be in a place like that with my family:grouphug: ... I CAN'T WAIT to go back ... anyway, my point is that people will complain (and complain and complain!) and I don't think its new ... as I said, they scared us back in 2005. But its a package deal, and the positives WAY outweigh the little negatives. So just stay positive and you will have a GREAT TIME ... Have fun! :wizard:

I Hope you keep thinking about all the Magical stuff. Trip planning is soooooo much fun, I know I look at post everyday cause I'm addicted to my trip planning. But when there is negatives I just take it with a grain of salt. Some have had bad experiences or find certain meals not to their taste like Boma's to us wasn't good. Just probably cause we didn't care for it doesn't mean others won't. If I want to try something I honestly am not going to take a negative from somebody to stop me without experiencing it myself if thats what I have my heart set on.
I've found alot of great information on here about extra things to do and see. Just have fun finding those things and when you do thats when you feel all the magical Pixie Dust hit ya. :thumbsup2

Hold on to that happy thought! As Peter pan would say...

Disney is something magical to the people who love it, there are some people who just don't get that at all...the people who say that they had to take their kids there, the families who litter in the parks and curse in front of their own kids...There are also they type of families who love Disney with all their heart, but unfortunately end up with a few bad experiences beyond their control.

But like life, you have to look for the good to see it! If we keep our eyes focused on the bad we lose sight of all the wonderful things happening around us...Look at the trip reports, weddings, or photo albums and see how many people had a truly magical experience! Disney is not made of pixiedust and dreams, it's made of concrete and steel...the true magic comes from the love and dedication of it's CMs, imagineers, and guests year after year.

If all else fails, here is a little pick me up I use when I need a little of that sweet sweet magic.

I have found more positives on the dis lately. I for one can tell you Disney is magical and all your cares and woes will fade away the minute you see the arch across the road "Disney World" It is a wonderful feeling. We for one family love the dining plan. It has given us so much more to our trips then we ever had when my children were young and we had to eat sandwiches in the room, cereal in the room etc just to go to WDW.

Just keep the warm fuzzy thoughts and you will not be disappointed, and remember it is a magical place :tinker: pixiedust:

.....you will have a wonderful time, you will. If you look for fault in every little
thing, you will find fault. Forget the negativity. You are going at a fantastic
time of year and will love every last second of your well earned, long awaited
vacation. Whatever you put out there, you will get back tenfold. So share
that Disney love! :lovestruc :love2: :tinker: :mickeyjum

The first time I went to Disney was on my honeymoon in 95, we had the best time of my life. I was so in love that we took my sister and niece back in 96. We stayed off site both times. I finally got to stay on site 10 years later for my ten year wedding anniversary trip in 05 and my niece's graduation gift. I have never had a bad time, even with me and my husband getting sick on our last trip.
We did the DDP as well and loved everything about it.
We are going again this year in December and and taking my older sister for the first time!!! (she's 43 and never been I'm so excited!!!).

To me Disney is an experience we share as a
family and that is what makes it so special to us!!!

Go have a ball and remember these are memories that do last a lifetime!!!

The magic is where and how you make it. There are alot of negative people in the world, sadly. And on the boards this is also true. Some people can only enjoy themselves when they are bashing what someone else finds wonderful. However, for every negative post there are as many as 10 that are positive about the same subject. The boards are meant as a guideline and information.

We have been on trips to WDW when it has rained five out of seven days and you know what, those were some of the greatest trips we ever had!!!

WDW is a state of mind. Depends on what state your mind is in!!!

GO!!!!! HAVE A GREAT TIME AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!! THAT WAY YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!

Well, life isn't perfect, but there's no place I'd rather experience imperfection than at Disney (WDW or DL)!!!!!!!!!

I just ignore the negative posts. I glean what I want and pass on the others. I'm thrilled to be going to WDW because:
  1. I won't have to cook any meals
  2. I won't have to make any beds
  3. I won't have to clean any toilets
  4. I can do what I want (or what my family wants)
  5. I can look and be amazed at what the Imagineers have created for our entertainment pleasure
  6. My kids will be happy and won't complain once about geting out of bed early!
  7. I can watch the sheer joy on my kid's faces as we go about our days.
I could go on and on... but I won't! :happytv: I'm on vacation at a place I love, and I won't let any ninny's or nana-nana-boo-boo'ers get me down, and neither should you!

Enjoy yourself - it's DISNEY, after all! :goodvibes

I'll take your 8 day trip to CSR in December. This way, you won't be worried about being disappointed. Thanks!

Yes, there is plenty of Disney magic at WDW.
You just have to WANT to find it.

Don't stress about some of the things that you may read on here. I have been reading the boards daily since summer 2005 and have read a lot of GREAT reviews and some that aren't so great. I am staying at CSR and am so excited about it because it looks like a great resort. The DDP works great for my DH & I because it saves us some money & allows us to eat at some restaurants we wouldn't normally eat at. Enjoy every minute of your trip & don't worry about all of the small things. Everyone has something to complain about & I think it is easier for most people to find negative things instead of positive things. Have a wonderful trip!!:tinker:

Hey folks, my next trip will be with my grandkids. I could have a miserable time myself but if the grandkids have a blast, the entire trip is worth it. Just the expressions on their faces and hearing the laughter and funny squeals that they will make is worth more than a few cold meals etc.

For us that love Disney the majic will never die, I feel sorry for those who don't have the Disney feeling. They are missing out on a lot of good feeling.
