Great idea. Here are mine. While we didn't get to go first thing in the morning like I had planned, I still think we saw a lot of animals. The "Little Red" scenario was really downplayed to the point that I think some people on our ride didn't even realize it was going on.

I like this picture taken on the Sunrise Safari, the flamingo chick is only 3 days old and was trying valiantly to get down the embankment.

Wish I could say the lion was letting out a great roar with this pic but he was just yawning.

Thanks for the pics I love those animals especially the Lion you should see him at sunset

These pics are truly wonderful. I know my SO will love them. I've forwarded him a link to the thread.

Here are a couple of shots from our Safari. It was one of my top 5 things on our trip to Disney. Or, maybe it was just something I was really, really looking forward to and wasn't disappointed by :)

We got stopped by a Rhino that wouldn't get out of the way of our jeep for about 5 minutes. Once he finished his business, we were on our way. Here is the guily party!

Another nice shot IMHO

I have more that I need to upload. . .

Speaking of flamingos, did anyone know that only flamingos in captivity are actually pink? I learned that last night. :)

OOOOO. I have the most amazing picture of a giraffe where he/she actually leaned his head into or jeep. I'll have to find it. It was truly a spectatcular sight.

i love this one, zebras are my favorite!

Awesome picture! May I use your picture with my students? I'm a teacher and talk about the zebra's trick of blending in together to confuse their predators. (When they stand like this their predators can't tell how many there are, if they're coming or going, which is the head and which is the...well, you get the idea.) This is better than any other picture I've found.

Actually, not true. Their coloring comes from a dye extracted from their food (like algae and shrimp). However, there are several different species of flamingos, some of which are definitly less pink than others.

I did a little more research on the colour of flamingos. BabGanoush, you are partially right. According to Wikipedia, flamingos do not get their colour from shrimp but from the blue-green algae that they eat. I stand corrected. I should have said that only flamingos in captivity are the pale pink colour that we are used to.

From Wikipedia:

Young flamingos hatch with grey plumage, but the feathers of an adult range from light pink to bright red due to the pigments obtained from their food supply. A flamingo that is well fed and healthy is vibrantly coloured bright pink and is more desirable as a mate. A white or pale flamingo, however, is usually unhealthy or suffering from a lack of food. Notable exceptions are the flamingos in captivity, many of which turn a pale pink as they are not fed foods containing sufficient amounts of carotene.

I know this is OT but I found it very interesting.

Not really OT, you were just explaining the colouring of the chick in the picture I posted.:thumbsup2
