I started this thread hoping someone might be able to help me asap. My 4 year has a life threatening disease and I printed out paperwork from the kids wish network and had my sons dr fill it out but then did some research and have since heard some horrible things about them. It seems that maw is much better. I haven't turned in any paperwork yet. My son wants to go to Disney world and universal studios as his wish. I hate to ask his doctor to fill out paperwork all over again but I don't want to get scammed either and I hear they've done this to other families and such. Has anyone ever worked with them before and had a good experience? Thanks.

I do not know much about that organization, other than a few articles I have read that sound similar to what you have read.
It is clear from your post that you don't feel confident about that organization. Whether the stories are true or not, if you don't trust the organization, you will spend your time worrying about what may or may not happen.

I would just be very frank with the doctor and let him/her know that you have read some things that make hesitant to entrust something as important as your child's wish to them. I would explain that I had misgivings, decided not to turn the application to the Kid's Wish Network and ask if the doctor could make out an application for Make a Wish instead.

Many parts of the application for MAW would probably be similar, so the doctor could probably use the application that is already filled out as a model to help fill out a MAW application.

. . . I hate to ask his doctor to fill out paperwork all over again . . .

1) Do it!
2) IN MY PERSONAL OPINION, Maw makes better plans.

NOTE: For reasons of disclosure, I am a local Board Member of MAW and a
volunteer coordinator for Give-Kids-The-World, so my opinion is probably
biased. (I also volunteer for Kiwanis kids' activities and SCORE for business
entrepreneurs as part of the Small Bus Admin.)

My friend's son received his wish from Make a Wish and they were awesome to them. They went to Aulani and the grandparents also came (they paid their own way) and they were awesome to them as well as far as making sure they were included in things.

He has been a part of Make a Wish for years and they have always been to good to their family. In fact they had a wish trip booked a few years ago and had to cancel for health reasons. They kept calling back to make sure he didn't miss out on his trip! I saw the video of him making his wish in the wishing room and it was just beautiful!

thank you. This was one of the articles I read. I have contacted MAW and am awaiting a response from them. Hopefully soon. Appreciate everyone's advice on here!
