Kids winter boots

I just realized I need to get my daughter three pairs of winter boots for this winter. Lands End has them for about $22 and ebay ones are going for about the same. Any suggestions where I can find them cheaper? We already have snow so I need something warm. She is 5 and in size 11. Thanks!

Why 3 pairs? I bought some for DS at Target a few years ago for under $15 and they kept his feet really warm and dry. This year I got them at kohls and they were abot $30. Are you near a Huberts?

I don't think you are going to find them for much less than $22. especially if you want warm ones. Lands End ones are good and that is very cheap. I am wondering what a 5 yr old needs 3 pair of boots for? We llive where it is very cold and mine never had more than 1 pair. but I digress. I still think $22 is very cheap for boots especially in December.

I guess I should have explained... she is in 1/2 day Kindergarten in the afternoon, and preschool in the morning and we will need a pair for home. Both schools require snow boots be at school every day. I didn't have them today and she had to stay inside I got a great deal on the crocs boots earlier in the year so I think we will just use those w/ thick socks at home so I am only going to need to purchase 2 pairs.
Sounds like the Lands Ends ones are they way to go. The last few years MIL bought them so I've been spoiled

She can't wear one pair from preschool to kindergarten? Isn't she going to need to wear a pair between schools? And in the morning and on the way home? I'm confused I mean it is your money but my kids always just wore theirs between places because it was cold and snowy between and on the way there.

no, she just wears sneakers in the car and on the bus then they change in to boots for the playground. Just how the school suggests it be done, they like a pair to be left at school. Probably because with all the changing of shoes it is a guarantee the boots are left at school. I am sure if boots get worn home (or to preschool) boots get left there and then they don't have them for recess the next day. We've always left a pair of spare boots at daycare its funny this seems so out of the ordinary for some people.
I didn't make the request up, I am just looking for a cheap deal on boots.

Yeah not getting on you, just confused. I will say tho if it was my child in New Hampshire in the winter I would want her to have boots on in the bus. Those busses can be cold and if it broke down she would be cold. If this is your first also remember schools make arbitrary rules sometimes and if you question them they have no rhyme or reason for it and you can do it the way you want. In this economy I am surprised they can ask for boots to be left there, because a lot of kids couldn't afford 2 pair and how would they walk home without boots?

Back to topic $22 for boots is a good deal and I'm going to go check them out for my son who I think is almost out of his.

I was able to get a pair for my son at Walmart and they are certainly warm enough to use for both school settings. They only spend limited time outside in either school. I think regular price on them was around $15, but I got them for $7 during BF.

If you have a Sears near you with a Land's End store inside, you may want to call and see if they have boots in your daughter's size. I went there today and boots and other cold weather gear (snowpants, gloves, etc.) were 50% off!

For the two schools you could buy used (or home too, of course). When I needed multiples of things I used to use search words like "lot" or "twins" and "multiples" - and find great things. It is amazing when you buy in lots how the cost per unit goes down (and only 1 shipping cost).

I know what you mean. Its also hard for my daughter to keep it straight and she will end up going to K in her boots w/ out her shoes in her backpack so then she won't have shoes for school (sneakers for gym etc.). Sometimes its easier to just go w/ the flow and spend the extra $22 or whatever and not have to stress over it on a daily basis.

See, now, our school is exactly the opposite of yours. They want the kids to bring a pair of sneakers to leave at school and wear the boots home every day. The kids get to school and the sneakers are lined up outside the door to the classroom. and the kids change into them before they go into the class. That way the shoes they wear into class are dry and the classroom floors stay cleaner and the kids stay cleaner.

I went boot shopping today. I have to say I think $22 is about as good as it's going to get if you are looking for a good pair of warm boots. The cheapest pair I could find for youngest DS was $35 at LL Bean (I got the $10 GC with them tho so I'll get a a free pair of gloves for him)

Depending on where you are, it might be too late in the season, but have you tried any local consignment shops? I found DD a like new pair of Lands End boots for $7.50 in Oct. Do you have friends you could ask around if they have older kids? I'd hate to have to buy 3 pairs at once!

I understand having multiple pairs though. Mine just happen to fit into theirs from last year plus I found each of them a good used pair for back ups. It's nice for those days they accidentally forget them somewhere. Same thing w/gloves.

We're supposed to get lots of snow tomorrow & Target was pretty busy in the boot & glove areas!

Have u tried Craigslist for the boots? I am picking up a pair for ds2 tomorrow from a CL. They are Lands end and only $5 plus she is throwing in an extra pair of hiking boots. I don't care about the hiking boots I just wanted the snow boots. Just go to the kids/baby section and search for boots.

Also 2nd the sears - lands end store - ours was also 50% off today.

Should've added that we're from Memphis, so snow boots aren't a necessity here. We maybe need them once or twice a season, so I buy big (so they can grow in and both use) and cheap. Soggy tennis shoes with Target bags rubberbanded around them just don't cut it.

Last year we actually got 7+ inches in one snowfall! Watch it not snow here at all this year.
