Our first trip to WDW was in 2002 and it was the first all out, pack the minivan, just the three of us (me, DW, DD5), full time family, two full weeks (including travel time) Vay Cay Shun!

My DW and I are very lucky. Our daughter Lauren is wonderful. Sometimes we stare at each other and wonder how in the world we got such a fun loving, extroverted, do anything, try anything child.

So what drives me a bit nutzo is all of my friends, coworkers and even family members who say, "Oh, my kid is tooooooo young to remember Disney World." Or, "My child isn't ready for Disney World yet."

Grrrrrr.

A coworker and her husband just got back from WDW and she wanted to tell me about it when she saw me. I asked her how old her son was (I don't see her very often). Her DS was 14. Months!!!
I wanted to hug her and congratulate her on going to WDW even though her son "wouldn't remember it!"

She said they ate breakfast at the Crystal Palace and that her son's room is decorated in Winnie The Pooh. He hasn't been walking long but he ran toward his first sighting of the Bear of very little brain, shouting, "POOH! POOH! POOH!" and launched into a giant (for a 14 month old) hug!

She said she and her DH will never forget that magical moment!

My DD is now 9 and the only reasons she didn't ride attractions from when she ws 5 until now is only because she was height prohibited (which isn't many since she appears to be getting my DNA and I'm 6'5")

I've always used these words for convincing my daughter to go on a ride: "See all those people getting off the ride? They're all okay. They survived. They're all laughing. You will survie, you will laugh too! Now let's go!"

My sister just got back from her first trip to WDW with her DH and their DS6. Their son is a notorious frady cat. I was proud of my sister telling her son that he was going on the Rockin' Roller Coaster and that he was gonna like it! He did and then he wanted to go on it again and again.

So remember fellow parents, your kids are never too young for WDW and you might have to kick 'em in the butt to get them to go on a ride or two, but it's worth it!
