Kids taking valentine cards to class

I'm glad to hear that some of you continue the valentine giving into adulthood! We have always done this in our house, and I always give my children (now adults), DH, parents, and grandparents (when they were living) valentines cards and gifts. My mother always did that too. In fact, I just started buying valentine gifts this week.

BWV - I wouldn't say "scrooge". It's not the point of what they do with them afterwards, it's how much they like to celebrate things at school and sharing things with their classmates.

This is DS last year of elementary school and his last year of having all those little parties. DD who is in high school has stated on several occasions how much she misses those little things that they did back when she was in elementary school.

If you don't want to buy cards, why not have your DD just make them?? That's what I did when I was a kid . . .my mom always had me make them . . .they were more personal and creative.

Sometimes you have to look at things through your child. Something that is pointless to you might mean the world to a kid, ya know??

There are lots of sites for coloring pages, too. DD loves coloring pictures for all her classmates, 19 of them! And, her REAL valentine's are already made out. ::yes::

And, I still send a few Valentine's out myself. ;)

We just purchased Thomas the Tank engine valentines for my son. I love writing them out. And he is so exciting when he comes home after the Valentine's party at school with a whole bag of them. Its not any trouble. As far as I'm concerned, just part of being a mom.

OK, go ahead and just say it. I'm a scrooge!

LOL! I wouldn't say scrooge either. My DH hates this holiday. He says it is a ploy made up by Halmark to make more money. (What a romantic I married.) But I love giving presents and anytime I have an excuse to do it...believe me I will.
