Hi all. My cousin and her two daughters (18 months and 11 years) just returned from their trip to Disney over Christmas. Yesterday, she found out her 11 year old has an ear infection and her 18 month old baby has pneumonia. :( :(

The baby is responding well to the medication but I'm still worried. I was wondering if anyone else experienced kids getting very ill last week at the parks.

:(

GREAT POST!

We were there that week and got ill as well. Started with coughing and it evolved into bronchopneumonia.

My children's pediatrician told me that "flu" going around this year evolves into ear and throat infections for some and pneumonia for others... And yes, we got ill at WDW during the holidays, people were coughing left and right.

Rather than checking bags they should be checking chest X-Rays at the gates

We were there last week with our four kids and no one got sick (yet). We had one child who was sitting behind us at Mickey's PhilarMagic coughing on us during the whole show so I have no doubt plenty of germs were shared. We kept reminding everyone to wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. Hope everyone gets better soon.

We weren't there this year but last Xmas my son got pneumonia at DW. A friends 2 year old also got it last XMas and he was in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks. It took my son months to recover last year. I hope everyone gets better faster this year!!

We were there the week of Christmas (19-26). We did not get sick, but I was worried about that after reading posts from people who went over Thanksgiving and came home with the flu. We just did our best to was hands as much as possible, I carried hand sanitizer with me. We also got flu shots back in November, but with all of those people, I'm sure there were all kinds of germs everywhere.
Sorry to hear your cousin's kids got sick. Hope it didn't ruin their trip.

Washing your hands is not a bad idea at all, but my doctor told us we probably got infected in the plane.
The air is circulated within the cabin and everyone takes in everybody's germs for hours.

My nephews brought a CA bug with them, more of a GI one that kept them out of the action for at least 4 days. When we arrived, my SIL took DN9 to urgent care and he had a middle ear infection. I don't think this is due to WDW, but things they were exposed to before they traveled to FL. Of course, now I have a cold, and I was practicing excellent handwashing. Must have been all of those early am starts, and then returning late to the parks for evenings lowering my resistance. I just love WDW too much!

We were there from December 19-26 with 7 kids ages 3 to 19. The 2 youngest had ear infections while we were there. At least 2 others picked up an head colds. Some of the adults (like me) also ended up with sinus infections. Everyone felt a little at one time.

None of us got sick (me, DW, DS and DD) when we were down there from 12/25-30, but my brother's family was sick for most of our trip. They live near Orlando, which gives us a good built-in excuse to go to WDW every year. We didn't get to see much of them, which was really the only negative part of the entire trip.
