not sure if any one out there has thought of this or not. I have a ds 10yo and dd 8yo and I want to be sure that if for some God awful reason they get lost while we are at WDW that they get back to the hotel okay. My question is has anyone every put a family photo in the kids back pack and the hotel room etc?

I dont want to have too much information but I want my kids to be protected.

Having ID on your kids is a great idea. There has been lots of great threads on ideas but I'm not good at doing links. Having the information ON your kids is the best idea in case the back pack gets lost. My favorite idea is the dog ID tags that you make yourself at pet stores for about 5.00. Put your cell phone #, hotel info etc on it and then lace it on to your child's shoe lace. Information is not easy to see for strangers but hard to loose and your age kids would know where it was if they needed to share it with a CM. Be sure to show them who CM's are and tell them to find a CM, never leave the park etc. If they are lost outside of the parks, teach them to stop where they are and stand still and them look for a CM to help. Tell them never to try to get back to the hotel on their own. With that age even having a meeting place in case they get lost might work. Don't wory. WDW is use to lost kids and knows how to handle them.

I LOVE the dog tag id idea. What a wonderful way to provide the kids with the help they need. My DS6 and DD4 know their home address and phone number but that does us no good when we are a 1000 miles from home. I was "lost" at WDW when I was a kid and it was a terrifying experience. Lucky for me, my parents had told us all to meet up in front of the castle if we should get separated.

We put clear labels pre-printed at home on the kid's clothing, with last name, hotel and cell phone number. The printing was small enough to be indiscernable to passerbys, and placed where the label would not fall or be pulled off. We also took a digital photo of each little delegate every morning to record what they were wearing. We discussed what to do if they got lost or separated, and how to find CM's to speak with if needed.

Even so, the oldest delegate has managed to get lost, if only momentarily, twice. Our 'Sweeper' Uncle Ambassador has always picked him up in the dragnet.

Last trip I did laminate a walet sized family photo and put our last name, resort, dates and cell phone number on it. I figured if the kids got lost then whoever found them would know what we looked like.

Those are all good ideas. Thanks. I feel a little better knowing that other are out there thinking of those things too. I did not want to sound paranoid, but I wanted my kids to be safe. With the huge crowds at WDW the possiblity of getting lost, either the kids or the adults, is great.

I just bought a digital camera and plan to take a picture each morning before we get to the parks.

We did the dog tag for our toddler when we went and laced it on his tennis shoe. We had out last name, cell phones, and Villas@WL printed on it. It was small enough and he never noticed it.

I use the ID-Inside wrist band. It comes in neon pink or blue and velcros around the wrist. It displays "ID Inside" on the front so people know where to look. Also comes with inserts that you slip into the slot inside with the importate information.

I make mine on the computer with basic information. For Knoebels, we have the same site every year so I don't have to keep making a new tag. I also laminate mine due to weather and water rides. I have one made for Knoebels, Wildwood, Disney, and a regular one for zoo and school field trips.

Best $10 ever spent. DD loves it...
