I'm sorry if this has been posted (I searched but couldn't find anything), but can someone clarify whether or not kids must order off the kids menu at QS restaurants (we are on the DDP)? The DDP brochure says that kids must always order off the DDP menu, but I've also heard that they don't track your QS meals by adult/child, just lump them all together. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!

Very touchy subject here. Its like fight club....
You will not get the answer you want to hear.

The Dining Plan brochure (aka rules) states that children ages 3-9 on any dining plan must order from the children's menu where one is available. You also can't order more meals from an age group than there are people indicated on your card in that category. How credits are tracked, therefore, is moot.

When my son was 9 he did not like the children's menu. I actually spent oop for several of his meals. I would call and see if you can pay the difference between the childs dining plan and the adult dining plan for the child you are having an issue with. I have never done this but it sure can not hurt to ask.

True! My husband and I took our 3 y/o GS to WDW this past Feb and used the DxDDP. Our last day we had six credits left, so I went to the food court at POFQ to ask if I could get six meals to go. The CM said, technically they were not allowed to let me order more than the 2A and 1 C meal that showed on my card, but usually if it's your last day they'll let you use all your credits up. He did ask a manager, who after looking at my room key to verify that we were actually leaving that day, approved us getting six meals. He did say that four of those meals would be adult meals, but two had to be kids meals.

Kids are required to order off of the kids menu where available. You're card will state how many adults and kids are on your reservation. You will not be allowed more then these when you go to pay. So, if your card says 2A and 1C, then you can get up to 2A meals and 1C meal.

This is the official Disney policy and the one we follow on these boards.

:thumbsup2 Yup. Nothing left to clarify.

Not sure if anything has changed since we were there in 2011, but the portions on the DxDDP were pretty big so although DD had to order off the kids menu, there was always more than enough left over on our plates for her to eat some of ours too. I think there were even some days where DH and DD swapped their meals because DH is such a picky eater and DD will eat just about anything.

When my DD was 9 we booked her as age 10 and paid for her as an adult in order to allow her the option of the adult menu on the DDP. About half the time she ordered from the kids menu anyway but it was really nice for her to have the options.

This was during FD so we only had to pay the difference on the park ticket. I'm not sure that from a financial standpoint it would be worth it when paying for the DDP.

Rule: On any dining plan, children 3-9 must order from the children's menu wherever one is available.
This is the rule in all Dining Plan literature, both printed and electronic.

This same information has been provided here and supported by other posters. A flaw in the system doesn't negate a rule or policy.

Asked, and answered.

Your posts are being deleted because it's against Dis rules to offer advice of how to break WDW rules.
