For the kids programming, do they have to be in the proper age group? My 11 1/2 year old is shy, and she would do better if her older sister, (turning 13 two months before the cruise) could be with her. Also, if they allow the 13 year old to be with the 11 & 12 yr olds, does she have to stay there? Could she go to some of the "teen" things, but hang out with her sister when she was needed? It looks like the area is one large big room, with different sections. Would her younger brother (9 1/2) be able to see her and help out if needed?

In general, its easier for a child to move down an age group than up and they don't allow moving back and forth between groups. Some people have had experiences where their has been more flexibility - some people have found them to be very strict - I suspect that it might have something to do with how booked the clubs are.

They will encourage you (and I think its a good idea) to try the kids in the age groups they are suppose to be in. If the 13 year old can't move back and forth, she may end up resenting her time with the younger kids.

The 8-12 year olds are in one big space most of the time, but do some together and some seperate group activities.

Maybe bop over to the cruise meet board and see if you can find another DISer with the right age daughter on the same cruise? The girls could exchange a few emails and meet up on the boat before the clubs even open.

Last year we moved my 9 year old up without a problem.

Our dinner companions had a 10 year old son, so on the 2nd day of the cruise we asked if my son could move up to be with his new friend. The cm gave him a nice little speach about how he would have to act like a 10yr old & if he couldnt handle it & disrupted the group, they would move him back down.

He felt very special moving up, so of course he didnt case any problems & spent the rest of the cruise hanging out with his new friend.
