Kids or no at Oga's and Trader Sam's?

Hi all! We've visited many times, but we are finally going to try to make it over to Trader's Sam's! I'm trying to decide if we should bring our kids (6 and 11) with us, or if that is better for an adults only night?

Sort of wondering the same about Oga's, though more likely to take the kids to that one just because we'll all be together in SWGE.

Mostly worried they will be bored/won't enjoy it.

Trader Sam’s becomes adult-only at some point in the evening. ETA: Checked the website; it’s 8:00pm.

My daughter (6) likes Oga’s fine - she actually requested to go yesterday. It’s not really geared for kids, but if they know that in advance and are prepared to stand and just try to enjoy what it is, they should be fine.

We were able to sit at the tables in TS but not at the bar itself when our son was underaged.
This was around 3:30~6 PM.

We go to TS for lunch, try to get there about 15-20 minutes before open to get a table. DD loves it there, never have felt out of place.

Does anyone have pictures of the inside of Oga's?

Trader Sam's is great for kids, but does change to adults only for the inside seating in the evening. Kids can still sit outside where the live music and tiki torches are at night.

We've been taking our kids to Trader Sam's for years and they love it!! They can sit anywhere but at the bar. From 8pm on it is 21 & over only.

What do you think are the favorite kid drinks at Oga's?
I'm thinking maybe the Hyperdrive, the Blue Bantha, the Cliff Dweller or Oga's Obsession ... but what has been most popular with your kiddos?

thanks!

The Blue Bantha. He likes the drink itself and it comes with a cookie. (A very yummy cookie that I always make him split with me!)

My daughter, 7, hated Oga's at first. We had to stand and it was super loud and busy. The server gave her a cookie and she started to enjoy it more. :)

If you want an grownup's night out, then Trader Sam's. The drinks at Oga's are expensive, small, and light on booze, and they'll move you on in short time if they need to turn tables over.

Either can be neat for kids to look around at, but there isn't a lot to entertain them for long. Because of an ambiguous CA law about access to bars, DLR forbids kids to sit at bars at the resort.

My kids enjoyed Oga's until they were done with their drink! LOL. They are 11 and almost 10. We had a standing table in a corner, far from DJ Rex.

We tried going to Trader Sam's when they were younger, but our youngest got freaked out by the Volcano. He was about 6-7 I think. I love the theming of the inside of Trader Sam's but actually prefer to sit outside. If we went back with the kids, we would most likely sit outside.

We took our two to Oga’s and they were fine. There were tons of kids sitting on the floor engrossed in smart phones while their parents tried drinks. It was hilarious.
Okay, I’m actually interested in this, lol. We definitely want to visit Oga’s, but will have our five year old with us. He’s a Star Wars fanatic, but not a standing-for-a-long-time and loud-noises fanatic. Is it actually possible to have him sit on the floor without being in the way/getting stepped on? He badly wants blue milk, so I was going to get him the Blue Bantha, but it is anyone’s guess how long the drink alone will hold his attention.

Have him sit under the table or right at your feet. I've been to Oga's several times and always see kids sitting on the floor

My daughter has sat on the floor under our table twice. I bring a plastic bag along for her to sit on.

You can also request a booth if you’re willing to wait a bit.

ETA: My daughter is obsessed with the milk stand blue milk (we hike back to SWGE just to get her some on occasion), but she just tried the Blue Bantha morning on Friday, took one sip, and declared it “gross” (I had warned her it was different, but she still wanted to try it.). She did eat the cookie after peeling off the white part.

So, YMMV, but I’ve heard most people say the milk stand slushie one is way better than that thing.

I am taking my almost 13 year old to Oga's next week. I basically want him to see the interior. But he just passed me in height so it's not like he is tiny.

I did not care for the blue milk at the blue milk stand so I am anxious to try the blue milk at Oga's (with cookie) but if he chooses that I'll pick something else. I had the Cliff Dweller the first time I went so I might be coming home with another Porg mug... :rolleyes1

What are the recommended strategies for getting a reservation at Ogas? We are visiting the last 2 Saturdays of this month and tried for every time frame and there's nothing available. I will keep checking for cancellations, but wondered how far in advance everyone is reserving.

You can only reserve two weeks out, and they open more reservations at 7am(ish) each day. I got a reservation for five people at 4:25pm on Friday by booking it at 6:56am that day.
