What do you do with your kids there? Do you follow them around or do you let them roam free?

I have 4 kids and they're 11, 9, 7, and 5. We follow them around everywhere but it's very hard as we're outnumberd. :grouphug: They would love to explore the island on their own in their own time but I don't think I'm ready for that yet.

Nope, no way, no how would I let them roam free. There are bad guys, even at Disneyland. And especially on the island, so many places to grab them. Mine are 14 and 6 and I follow. Not happily mind you, but I follow.

In your case, I would probably pair the kids up and make them stay together (like the 11 and 5yo and the 9 and 7yo). Then you and your hubby can split and each of you stays with one pair.

OMGOSH!!! You can have so much fun here. You can do follow the leader. Or follow the leader with a twist, you have to do what the leader does. We have had such great fun on the Island with our kids. You can pair up in teams and play hide-n-seek. I never let my kids go off on their own until they were 14 or 15 years old. The memories we have all playing together on Tom Sawyers Island are awesome. I could go on and on. Now I need to go get the pictures out. Fun, fun, fun!!!:tink:

Also, don't forget you are on an Island. Never, never leave children unattended around water...just saying...:tink:

This is what I would do. There is such a large network of trails, you usually can't see more than 50 feet down any of them, you would have trouble rounding them back up.

Yes, this sounds like a good idea. Plus you could also have a meeting place (and time) just in case you do get separated.

Or just call each other / text each other on your cell phones. That's what we did. (ETA the grown ups. We just stuck with the kids like glue who didn't have cell phones).

Aaww, the good old days are gone. I remember when I was 12 my sister (11) and I had free run at Disneyland. My parents sat on a bench we ran all over the park. When my kids were teens I let them do the same thing. I would even go back to the hotel and they would return on the last shuttle of the evening. This was age 16 and above. Now.....I would never do that.
