I watched the Travel Channel yesterday on the DCL..I don't know why I wasn't aware that we can leave our kids with the CM and go off to the adult beach on CC. I don't know if I will do this or not, most likely we will spend the day together but I want some advice if I do. I'm sure it's safe but my DD will be almost 5 and my son is 8.5. Do they allow them to swim and do a lot of water activity and is it under control or are the kids very wild? My son is a good swimmer but my DD does sorta a doggie paddle thing and can't last long in deep water. Just want to know what activities are planned for them if we do leave them. It's just that the family beach looked like the beaches on the 4th of July in Long Island (insane) and the adult beach looked like paradise, LOL.

The kids club on the island, Scuttles Cove, is inland and the kids don't go in the water. They do play water games, though.

Reality,

Do both! We spent a few hours at the family beach with the kids swimming and playing in the sand and then they went to the activities for a couple of hours. The kids do not swim, but they have some great activities and games. My daughter was 8 and she loved the water olympics - boys against girls - no swimming just buckets of water. My son was reluctant to go the the club - he was having fun just playing at the beach, but when we went to pick him up he did not want to leave. This gave us some time to check out the different bars and the adult beach - it was very relaxing! :flower2:

That is one thing I could not do....my daughter loves the beach and going in the water...if I left her in the kids club where they can't swim and went swimming myself I would feel to guilty LOL!

I agree! Besides I found the Scuttles Cove area too hot! They looked like they were having fun though! But I loved enjoying that gorgeous beach with our kids. That is by-far the best sand castle building sand ever!

Do I ever agree with Scuttles Cove being overheated, and in direct sun on CC... First time we left ours there, and after sitting for 5 minutes on a lounger, I was frying... I went straight to get them, and they were red and so so hot...

I never left them there after that, and they never seemed interested either. They are two fish, and love the ocean...

Our kids did both. They swam for a little bit, but then asked to go to the club. We went to the adult beach for awhile got them out of the club and swam some at the family beach again.

We did both as well. We started the day on the family-beach and after lunch we checked the kids into the club. We went to the adult beach & walked around. Went & picked up the kids & went back to family beach to finish up the day. I remember seeing some water games, a covered area that much cooler than out in the sun.
