Kids needing to scan fingers for park entry

from what we saw it does take a little time to get the tablet CM to the tap point, it was not right there so be prepared for a short wait. that could upset a small child as others will be allowed to pass you in your line as you wait. not a lot of room so child could be brushed as others pass you. can see this upsetting some kids
I have never ever done a finger scan. I have had many APs and have used other ticket media as well. Since they went to the touch point system and did away with the turnstiles, I have NEVER had a CM ask me to step aside and allow others to go past me. Those behind me continue to wait their line in turn. I rarely visit AK, so I can't say how they operate on a regular basis but I visit MK, The Studios and Epcot regularly. I have never had people brush past me. If they bumped me it was because they were in the next line, not the same one I was in.

I always do the photo as I can't do the finger scan and we never have to wait long at all. Quick wave to a plaid with an iPad. Check photo then have a magical day ... Job done.
Same here, I once maybe waited over a minute but less than 2 because things were super super busy.

If you are using the first scanner and encounter an issue, the second scanner continues to be used while you're waiting for assistance. Those people have to go around you to get into the park. If you're using the second scanner, people go around you to get to the first one. I've been tripped on and stepped over (in a wheelchair) too many times to count when DH (or one of the kids) has trouble.

That may have been your experience and I'm not saying it didn't happen to you. But I can ASSURE you, NO ONE who was BEHIND me has gone around me while I waited. That has been *my experience*! The CMs even tell people to hold up or move over to another line if there is no one waiting there. They are busy trying to get the plaid's attention and can't monitor the touch point and work on getting the plaid's attention.
So obviously my experience has been much different than yours.

Folks, let's remember that different people may have different experiences. That doesn't make either one right or wrong. Please be respectful.

I'm not sure why my post ruffled your feathers, but I assure you I was in no way invalidating your experience. This is why I did not quote your response or reply to you when posting. Someone concerned about the process could benefit from knowing that it does happen.

Well said - it's best to put all of the known possibilities out there so as to better know what might happen.

My experience is that the CMs tell people to go past the first tapstile to the second one so as not to hold up the line, as you've experienced. No reason why they shouldn't, IMO.

this has been my experience on a number of times the CM will raise there head while letting guest behind me go in. they have ever stopped the line for me and I would feel very bad if they did as other guest are trying to get in ( I do have people bumping into me all the time so I try to stand as close to the finger scanner as I can.) maybe if someone is in a ECV and blocking both such point then I can see the CM asking guest to wait.

I should add then I had problems at the furthest such point and the CM did ask me to move up wile she got a plaid to help.

So Impatient and rude people who think they shouldn't have to wait in line for their turn are more important than the safety of others? Smh. There is no reason why people cannot wait for their turn in line behind the person that is in front of them IMO. Pushing past people when it is their turn is just rude and inconsiderate. Not to mention that people who are trying not to get bumped into, get bumped. A minute or two waiting behind the person in front of you is not going to hurt anyone. Try using a little patience, it's amazing how much smoother things go when you have patience and WAIT for your turn. JMO.

No more rude and inconsiderate than choosing to do something that causes more work for the CMs and takes longer than necessary. I'm not talking about people who can't scan (children, the disabled who might not be able to scan, etc.), but rather the people who could scan but choose not to for whatever reason.

And if a CM says to come forward, moving around the person who is waiting, then I'm going to do it. It can certainly be done without bumping into anyone or hurting anyone.

Disney gives the option to EVERY guest to use photo ID. Choosing an option given by Disney themselves, is rude and inconsiderate?? Hahaha, that is funny!. Disney has clear rules about things such as line cutting, which is rude and inconsiderate.
Actually on Disney's side, this is the better option than a finger scan, as ID doesn't lie. I can't tell you how many times a CM has just reset a finger scan without verifying that it truly is the ticket's owner. And why this change in policy?? Because of cheaters. Can't cheat when you are showing ID can you?? ;)
So apparently Disney does not have a problem (nor see it as rude or inconsiderate) with those who don't want to do a finger scan, Do they??
And as I have said, NO CM has ever invited other guests to "go around" any of us. If they had, well that is on them. But that has not been our situation ever. YMMV.Screenshot_2016-08-24-02-36-24.png

so if it take me just a second to scan in and there is a dad a 2 kids infant of me using the first one all together I have to wait while they all scan in no I simply scan when it turns green I walk around the people infant of me. and the same has happened to me when I was having some problems with scanning they just go around you. for the OP I think you will be fine you may want to talk to your child show them videos of people going in using the touch points tell them if they can not do this then we can wait a minute or two for another CM to come this person will let us know what we need to do. the CM may take your picture with an iPad. ( I think you know your child best but if letting them know what could happen before it happens would help them then you have gotten some good information who really care if the guest behind you gose on after they scan or not there is some room to go on as long as there are not two people with double strollers or ECV wheel chair right next to each other but even then you can still get by just a little excuse me)

and for the OP where is a youtube video on how it works ( I could not have my sound on but it looks like the CM is telling the guest how to use it) I hope this helps your little one know what to expect when going in and maybe be able to do it him self.

Yes, I'm of the opinion that is rude and inconsiderate to do something complete unnecessary, knowing it will take longer, and then expect everyone behind you to wait.

There are two tapstiles for a reason - to keep the lines moving. Utilizing both of them as they are meant to be used isn't line cutting, especially when thenCM calls people forward, which is what I've always seen.

You have every right to choose to hold others up unnecessarily. You don't have the right to expect everyone else to wait behind you when there is a perfectly legitimate option to go around you.

I think it's time for this thread to close.
Options were given and it is now becoming argumentative.
