Kids & Mission Space

Has anyone taken their young child on Mission Space?
My 4 yr old really wants to go on it. I am one that if he meets the height requirements, I will let him try a ride at least once.

He is 44 inches without shoes so I am sure he will meet the height requirement.
He is a daredevil.

He has been on Dinosaur, Test Track, BTMRR, Haunted Manison, Tea cups (very fast), Star Tours, Body Wars, ToT & Splash Mountain. His favorite being Dinosaur & Test Track!

The only rides he did not like was Tower of Terror, he was Ok on the ride itself but didn't want to go back on it because he didn't like the drop.
Splash Mountain he was OK on, but he complained he didn't like the water splashing in his face. He said he would go on it again if I help him cover his face so it doesn't get wet.

He did not go on Space Mountain last time because he was not tall enough.

He REALLY wants to try Mission Space. He is a big space nut even at the age of 4.
I always explain to him what the ride will be like..example, dark, loud, fast, spinning, etc.

I am not unsure if I should take him on Mission Space. I was unsure about ToT also but he kept begging & begging until I finally said OK. Turns out he didn't like it, but actually did OK during the ride.(didn't freak out or cry) Just doesn't want to go back on it until he is 6 yrs old (his words) LOL

I say let him go for it. It is not all that dark, and you don't feel any 'spinning', all you feel is the simulated motion of the rocketship. It's an incredible experience and from your description of him and his resume of experiences, this will probably be his new favorite!

if you let him go on it make sure to remind him to look into the tv screen infront of him and not to close his eys or look around. is does that he should be fine. Also there are jobs that you have on the ride depending on where you sit.

Mission space is an awesome and it really does feel like you are going into space.

Thank you everyone for your input.

I think he will do well. I am just not sure if he won't look around when he should be looking at the screen.

How did your DD do the first time she went on the ride? Did she keep her eyes on the screen?

I will probably let him try it & then if he doesn't like it he doesn't have to do it again.

I did fine the first time, but second time was right after breakfast and I needed to go to First Aid. There was a woman at the end of our row with a small girl, the girl was pitching a fit and the woman kept screaming -- look straight ahead, look straight ahead. It was very disconcerting, I think that was part of my problem, worrying about this kid. It sounds like your son is a daredevil, I bet he will love it. Like you said, let him try it once. Have fun.

We went for the first time last weekend and my DD loved it. (Of course, she loved Dr. Doom's Fear Fall at IoA)

She's been on carnival rides since she was 4 so she'll try anything. MS or anything in the World is a whole lot safer than unregulated carnivals! I'm always more scared of failing safety restraints than of the rides themselves when I decide what to take her on!

If he's tall enough GO FOR IT! The question should be if you'd like it! If he's anything like my DD, he'll run from the exit to the entrance begging to go again! That's how I got suckered into the Fear Fall four times in a row.... once was enough of that one.

It definitely is an awesome illusion though. Not to be missed, in my book!

I think he'll love it!! I don't think kids are usually as prone to motion sickness and the ride really isn't 'scary'.

Sounds like he might like it. I don't think he will get too 'sick' from any spinning. This child is crazy, he will spin around in circles just to get a "dizzy feeling" He's a nut, but I love him

I am sure he will be fine on Mission Space!
