Hi guys! I searched to find an answer and am not clear. This must not be unusual..... My DS will be a 10 year old "Disney Adult" on our upcoming trip by a few weeks. He is not a huge eater and are paying OOP for meals. Can he still order off the kids' menu? The thought of paying full pop for huge meals that will mostly go to waste makes me lose MY appetite!! Lol I am mostly worried about the TS ADR's we have. Thanks so much!

He can definitely order off the Kid's Meal. I do it all the time when we go to places that don't serve anything I like, since usually the Kid's Menu has something I'll eat. He'll probably still get a kid's portion, but some places may give him a bigger portion. On my last trip I did recieve extra pasta at the American Pavilion for no extra charge.

Thank-you! Do you get kids' portions too? I know Adults can order off the kids menu, but sometimes they give you a much bigger portion and charge accordingly. That would defeat the purpose for DS..... He does not have an adult size appetite and we are generally not big eaters to begin with.

Our daughter is 12 and not a big eater we are not on the dining plan but when we did use it and now she is able to order off the kids menu when the adult menu doesn't appeal to her.

We have never had a problem with feeding her or our son (who is 17 now) since they became Disney adults and all the TS have been very accommodating.

Good Luck!

I ordered off the kid's menu a couple of times on my last trip; I received the kid's portion for the kid's price.

Edited to add: I didn't try this at a TS place, only at CS!

As the PP have stated, almost all TS restaurants will accomodate you. But NOT all. The children's menu is for ages 3 - 9 and they are within their right to refuse this menu to those 10 and over. The reports are mainly at the non Disney owned restaurants where they adhere strictly to this requirement.
Good Luck

Thanks! I know that allowing him to eat off the kid's menu would be a courtesy. It is not that he is a picky eater either.....both our kids' are adventurous eaters, DS even more so than his 13 year old DSister. She will order off the adult menu. It is mostly just the portion sizes! As it is DD and I sometimes share an app, then main, and a dessert of two for the table and we still feel like we are too full to move!

Is there a list of non-Disney owned restaurants that are on site?

However, most of the non-Disney owned restaurants will allow anyone to order from the children's menu. The only ones I can think of that have been posted on the dis were La Hacienda and Marrakesh and even then it was an isolated incident (server or that day's manager's discretion) and not a set policy.

La Hacienda let our daughter order from the kids menu in June without a problem, so no problems there last June must have been an isolated incident.

Yes, so far no restaurant has instituted a hard and fast policy which is why I said it was an isolated incident that was reported.

He will have to be a very small eater to be satisfied with the kids meals. We just returned from a trip with my niece and nephew who are 4 and 6 and don't eat that much and there were times they were almost crying when they were done with meals and still hungry. The serving of chicken nuggets was 4 and then they would just eat a few of the carrots or grapes and milk. Pasta serving was about half a cup. We ordered an extra meal a few times when they had pasta because without protein it just wasn't enough. The kids pizza was also very small--slightly bigger than an english muffin. Had we not been on the free ddp we would have just started ordering them 1 adult meal to split it would have worked better.

As others have said, most venues at Disney will allow your 10 year old to order from the children's menu.

It is worth noting that he will have to pay the adult price, regardless of what he orders or how much he eats, at buffets (e.g., Chef Mickey's), family style/all-you-care-to-eat (e.g., 'Ohana), fixed priced meals (e.g., CRT), dinner shows (e.g., HDDR), or dining packages (e.g., Fantasmic dining package).

DH ordered kids meals at a couple of counter service locations on our trip last month.

To be honest, I wish I'd done the same. The adult portions are WAY too big. The kid's portions are about the right size for me!
