I was just looking through the menu's for Ariel's Grotto and the Blue Bayou, I noticed the age for the kids menus was 3-9, I have our menu from last year at the Blue Bayou and it says 11 and under - does anyone know what the maximum age is? My son is 10 and there is no way he could eat the full adult meal at the Blue Bayou, my husband and I can barely get through it, not to mention I just don't see anything that he would eat - he is still really into chicken fingers :rolleyes1
As for Ariel's would they let us pay the adult price for him but let him order from the kids menu? The options for him there off the adult menu are better, but it would still probably waste a lot of food.
TIA
:)

I would have no problem just ordering kids' meal for him and not mentioning that he is 10. My dd is the same way, tiny appetite, and would waste a ton of food ordering an adult sized meal.

3-9 is the child's price now. But, except for character meals, no one is too picky about letting adults (or those 10 and up) eat off the child's menu. At the counter service places it's perfectly fine. I don't know about the Blue Bayou though.

I'm sure it would be fine for him being 10 to eat off the child menu. 1 year is no big difference really and they will never know he's 10. Go for it.

I don't know about the Blue Bayou though.

We have never been asked at Blue Bayou..and.. in addition to ages 9 and under...we had children with us 10 and 11 who ordered from the children's menu...

We were at Ariel's in November and DS who was 3yrs old just ate from our plates. DD was 1 yr old and did the same thing. We didn't order them a special kids meal.

I agree, if your DS is 10, I would just get order him a kids meal even if it says 9 and under and not say anything to the staff - I doubt it is a big deal.

Yeah I agree, just order from the kids menu, I don't think they'll care. My son is 9 and hasn't ate off the kids menu in quite a while. He's tall for his age and can really put the food away! LOL He also hasn't cared for the chicken nugget, mac and cheese type foods that are on kids menus anymore. He'd much rather have a steak and potato like Dad. LOL I always say it's a good thing he's our only, going out to eat would be very expensive otherwise!

I have a 10 yo and a 7 yo, both girls...both small for their age...with very different appetites. They both have bdays over the summer. That being said, we still put 9 and 7 on the reservations for DL this Dec. My eldest is not big enough for some of the rides in CA. So I don;t feel guilty about that at all. BUT, when it comes to the food, she has a very adult appetite and palate. No mac and cheese for her. My 7 yo loves it, won't eat the more adult foods, but the 10 yo prefers steak and shrimp and fancy sauces. Go figure. To BB credit they offer prime rib on the kids menu n dshe loved it last year. I swear she ate more than Daddy and I. Why she is so small still illudes me.:confused3

How will they know how old someone is.Heck,I was 5'8" when I was 10.I use to have to carry my birth certificate every where I went.Especially when i played basketball.Parents weren't very nice.It was really good for my self-esteem.:sad2:

Thanks everyone! I wish my son wasn't so picky, he drives me crazy, his sister on the other hand, has absolutely no issues, so I guess I can't complain too much. We decided if we have to order him an adult meal we'll give it to her and he can have her kids meal. ;)
But we are going to take everyone's advice with the don't ask don't tell; he should be able to have a meal he will enjoy too - whether its chicken fingers or a full blown adult meal.

As I can't eat much I always order off the kids menus and never have been questioned....

They changed Disneyland's child menu cutoff and now its exactly like WDW's, 10 and over are adults. That said, my son who is 12 going on 13 now continued to eat off the kids menus at full service restaurants at both WDW and DL until just recently. At the character buffets, I generally paid full price mostly because I feel like we are paying for entertainment as well as food. And he always ate a ton off the kids buffets. However, at Ariel's which is a fixed menu, he continued to order off the kids menu. This year he will order off the adult one because his tastes have broadened as has his appetite. For a ten year old, I would go with the kids menu, they won't ask you to prove her age I am sure. My daughter is 10 and eats like a bird, and has a kids palette and believe me, she will be 9 the night we eat at Ariel's next month!

I have always abided by the rules of age regarding ticket prices but at the restaurants I have gone with what I know they will eat. If they have buffet that caters to kids, I don't mind paying full price. But if the menu of adult entrees doesn't appeal, I refuse to pay that much for wasted food.
