kids meals questions

Hi guys! Quick question for you all. I am pouring through menus on the WDW site and I noticed that BOG seems to be the only one that says kids meals include beverages. Is this the case? I am trying to add up what I *think* our totals would be at the places I want to eat. This will give me a good idea if we should get dining plan or not. Also, do the restaurants offer more kid friendly meals that perhaps aren't on the menus(chicken fingers, burgers) at the World Showcase? Some of the places I would love to eat don't seem to offer things the kids would like. :( Any suggestions of places your kids have enjoyed would also help! Thank you!!

All quick service places include a drink with the kids meal. I am not sure about table service places though. A couple of places may be able to offer something off menu but overall if there is nothing on the menu your child will eat (even after the sauces are taken off) then the restaurant will likely not have anything to offer, they don't keep food around that is not on the menu for picky tastes.

Which places did not have something on the kid's menu that was suitable? I know that Spice Road Table does not list a kid's menu on the website, but someone on the board confirmed that they ordered off of it recently. I think AllEars.net listed the menu though. You could try looking there to see if it's just not listed on the WDW website. Touring Plans also lists menus with descriptions. I can't remember if you have to subscribe or not to get them.

For example Rose and Crown just lists bangers and mash or fish and chips. Or a lot of them have grilled chicken but, not breaded fingers.

Are you looking at the Rose & Crown Dining Room or the Pub menu? The dining room, which does ADRs, lists grilled chicken and turkey meatballs as Mickey check meals (healthier meals) in addition to what you listed. It doesn't list chicken nuggets though. I don't know if the pub takes ADRs, and they may have a limited menu. Rose & Crown is confusing because of the the two different areas.

What's listed on a restaurant menu, except Spice Table Road as I had said before, is pretty much what a restaurant has, unfortunately. We have sometimes ordered an adult side or appetizer for DS, when he didn't want anything off the kid's menu. However, that option may not always work for you. I know that Be Our Guest at MK will allow you to add, maybe substitute, fries on the kid's menu, but they don't specifically say on the menu that you can. There are a lot of good options at Epcot, and the other parks have more normal US kid food. Hopefully, you can find something that will work, and maybe save the more exotic ones for when the kids are older.

If they list grilled chicken as a kids option but don't have chicken fingers that are breaded then that is not something they would have. Overall if your child will not eat anything on the menu including a appetizer or adult item that is modified by leaving off sauces then you will probably be out of luck eating there and you can either try to expand your child's palette before you arrive or you can choose someplace else to dine.

I did this with my younger brother- we love Marrakesh yet they don't have things he thought he liked on the menu. I cooked some of the appetizers with slight modifications at home and when we got there I told him the beef pockets I had made were this item on the menu and then he had something to try on the menu with us.

Thanks for the replies. We are currently working on expanding their tastes with a food chart. They will eat grilled chicken here at home but, normally when we go out to eat one will get a hamburger(no bun, no anything) and the other will get grilled cheese, spaghetti, or chicken fingers. The second is way less picky but, we are getting the older one to eat steak now too. He is meat and potatoes, the other is carbs. My oldest doesn't even eat pasta or pizza but, will eat pepperoni off of pizza:sad2:. I haven't jumped in too far yet and I'm sure Rainforest Café and other places will have something they will eat.

Anyone know if they include a beverage at most table service restaurants?

How is Crown Reef? I heard bad things but, I think they would enjoy eating there for atmosphere. I haven't looked at the menu yet.

I haven't thought of ordering them apps. I'll check into them too! I know they have to order off kids menu for DDP but, more than likely we wouldn't get it. Just trying to see so DH and I don't have to budget our dinners and can relax.

We did have luck at the Plaza with 'grilled chicken fingers' - they didn't advertise it but offered our kids the breaded version.
