We just booked our first cruise on DCL, the 3 day bahama cruise.
After checking the official website and sample menus, they only show adult dinners and alcoholic drinks for the three main restaurants. There has got to be a child's dinner menu as well. Even though the food sounds great, my kids wouldn't touch most of it. Don't they have kid's stuff????
Any insight or past experiences to share would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Each night, the children are presented with a special children's menu. There are usually four or five items --chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, mac & cheese etc. My older son won't eat any of that stuff though, so we always ordered off the adult menu for him. They are very accommodating so if there's something your children want that you don't see on the menu, ask.

We took my Niece and Nephew on a Disney cruise last Feb and they ordered some things from the kid's menu like Mickey chicken noodle soup ( pasta shaped like Mickey's head) for an appetizer. they normally ordered off the adult menu for the entree. They also ordered the Mickey Mouse Ice cream bar for dessert off the kid's menu. They can mix and match from both menu's, so can adult's.

As an offshoot on this thread, can adults order off of the children's menu? Just curious. Sometimes they have things on that menu that I like! E.g., Mac and cheese. mmmmmmm

I forgot that the children's menu had appetizers too! Last year our servers had fruit cups waiting for our children each night, which was so nice. The Mickey bar was a bit hit with our then 6yo, too.

Yes, they've got children's menus and anybody can order from any menu. HTH:

Kids Menus (offered each night)
Chicken Noodle Soup
Fruit Cocktail

Hot Dog
Macaroni & Cheese
Cheese Pizza
Chicken Strips

Chef's Entrees Of The Day (different each night)
Grilled Cheese
Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
Fish Nuggets
Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich
Meatloaf
Ravioli with Tomato Sauce
Mozzarella Sticks
Pasta in Alfredo Sauce
Lasagna
Mickey Shaped Pasta with Tomato Sauce
Popcorn Shrimp
Mickey Shaped Ravioli Stuffed with Cheese

Good to see there is Fettucine Alfredo on the kids menu!! I am hoping that on our 4 day cruise that the kids will broaden there food selections and opt for something other than hot dogs and hamburgers!

Do they have a good shrimp cocktail on any of the menus? My kids had that for an afternoon snack in St. Maarten last year every day for a week! There has to be a lot said for all inclusive travel!

On our cruise last May, DD's friend from the Club was able to eat with us a couple of nights. We told the servers that she would be coming one night and when she got there they had set her place complete with booster seat and kids menu. We all had a laugh but the girls (20 somethings) really got a kick out of the kids menu.

The ones we had were more of a placement type with crayons and stuff to color and riddles, puzzles, word games etc on both sides with the menu on part of the front. We all enjoyed them so much we asked for the kids menu and crayons the rest of the trip so we could work the puzzles and be kids again.

Whether you have kids or not, be sure to ask for the kids menu and crayons at least one night on your trip.

Any yes, Adults can order off the kids menu. DD wanted Mickey Ravioli for her appetizer one night since she liked it from working in the Club.

what age do they consider for kids?
can my child order off the adult menu instead?
My daughter will be 1 week shy of 12 and wil want to order
the adult food for sure.
This will be ok?

thanks.:sunny:

kids can eat from adults menus and adults can eat from kids menu

The food doesn't seem nutritious from the child's menu though. It seems it is alot of fried food and I don't like that so I make them pick off the adult menu. Only my own opinion!

Will they make PB&J? Right now that seems to be the only thing my younger son will eat! I hope he out grows that in a year, but you never know.

you can also have it delivered late at night as a snack from room service. :teeth:

The alfredo is a "chef's selection" We never saw it offered on the four night cruise.

Yes, its a lot of fried food - its stuff most kids will eat, not necessarily stuff health concious parents want their kids to eat. You can certain order for them off the adult menu - if your kids will eat salmon instead of fish sticks! (My son we have some luck with - he'd at least "try mom's" - and sometimes eat my whole entree! With my daughter, we are lucky getting calories into her that aren't pure sugar, so chicken fingers are a step up from Mickey Bars)

On the same topic, if you put your kids into the clubs for dinner, the little ones will get their trays loaded for them. And they will probably be loaded with "kids stuff" -- mac n cheese and chicken fingers and all that other high fat, high calorie junk most kids will eat. If you are picky or have dietary restrictions (kosher, vegetarian, allergies) you may not want your little ones to get a plate of fruit salad, hot dogs, and mac n cheese. Once they get a little older, they will fill their own trays, but the counselors won't be making much effort to make sure they eat a balanced meal.

What constitutes "little ones" that are in the club that will get their plates loaded for them?
Just curious about ages there... my youngest at the time of our cruise will be almost 6 and probably will spend as much time as we let her in the club... but she's not going to eat what someone else picks out for her...
