Is it true that when ordering a kids meal, we are able to choose whichever sides are available at that particular quick service restaurant rather than the yogurt and gogo squeeze?

We were able to swap sides for kids or adult so long as they had the side listed on another meal but don't expect to change to something not on menu. Remember one meal the mother in front was complaining she could not get fries for her son when stand didn't serve fries. She was like you had to have fries cause you have a kids menu
I tend to eat kid's meals when we eat QS and often I will swap fries for the fruit. As the previous poster said, as long as it's on the menu where you are, you can usually swap it.
What about switching an adult QS meal for snacks.. is that possible? By that I mean not getting a meal at all but maybe a popcorn snack instead? Or ice cream and a soda?
Thanks for info regarding sides! Since so many kids meals now include yogurt and applesauce, I was thinking about possible switches to “actual chewable food”, rather than something that comes out of a packet. I was definitely not referring to dining plan credits or credits at all in my question , just wondering about switching available sides where sides are offered along with entree item.
