My kids don't seem to need expensive dangerous items to hurt themselves, especially my oldest dd.....

age 3 ...fell off couch reaching for a Barbie...broke arm
age 9 ...boys goofing around on feet stickers heading to the lunchroom, tripped her, nerve damage to left arm, months of physical therapy
age 10 ..last full day of school...large boy, running, carrying large bucket of water balloons CRASH...in the hallway, x-ray failed to detect broken right arm until 2nd x-ray showed healing "white"

My youngest dd has stayed out of the hospital (crossing fingers), but we called her concussion baby for all her falls and even now say she can trip on air.

Any other wacky injuries????

at the age of two she jumped out of her stroller and had to have stitches on her chin.....
when she was six....the first day of summer vacation....she and her brother and two girls that belonged to our tenant......they were throwing pillows around and one hit the deer antlers and those came down on her head and she bled like a stuffed pig.....she had to have aeroplastic on her head .....of course listen to her tell the attending physican at the ER what happened to her........"the deer antlers hit me".....crazy kids

another good one was she and her brother were playing mechanical bull in the kitchen......she of course being the youngest was the bull and she broke her thumb when she attempted to throw the "bull"

My son is a graceful as his mom. But luckily, other than a few bumps and scraps his has never had serious injury. Knock on wood. ;)

When my youngest DD was 3. her middle finger was crushed in the hinge of an automatically closing steel door. It broke her finger in 2 places, cut her finger in half and her fingernail had to be removed and then sewn back on to fix the damage...it was horrible BUT...

She was such a trooper about it, didn't cry at all while they did all of the work on her. When the doctor was done, he was very proud of his work and showed her her 'fixed' finger (which was swollen and black and blue by then, but looked MUCH better than it did when we got to the ER)...she took one look at it... started crying uncontrollably and said "BUT IT'S STILL UGLY!!!".....typical girl, LOL

DD5 was at a bowling birthday party, and she tripped while going up to take her turn. The heel of her hand was between the floor and the 8-lb bowling ball when she landed. Ouch!! It swelled up instantly and bruised beautifully over the next several days. Fortunately after a trip to the ER, we found out it wasn't broken, just severely bruised.

DD2 has no fear and little to no grace, so she is constantly tripping and hurting herself. Nothing serious, just bumps and bruises. But when she was 18 months old, she thought a nickel would be a good snack. Unfortunately the nickel jammed in her throat, and she had to be put under anesthesia to have it removed!

Kids!

I have Playhouse Disney to thank for saving my DD from a skull fracture. One morning when she was not quite 3 DD was sitting in her booster chair which was strapped to a kitchen chair eating breakfast. She had this habit of pushing herself away from the table with her feet. Well on this morning she pushed a little too hard and went over backwards hitting her head against the counter behind her on the way. She went over with such force that one of the wooden spindles on the chair cracked when it hit the counter. Luckily she had her head turned sideways to watch Playhouse Disney when she went over. Our doctor said had she been looking forward at the time she would have most likely fractured her skull. As it was she had a huge lump on her head and I had to monitor her for a concussion. That very day I went out to Right Start and bought their $200 Zeat Seat for DD.

Well, so far, DD has had no serious injuries. But if she takes after DH we are in TROUBLE!

When he was little DH has:
Fallen out of a moving car.
Ran his bike into a parked car (he was doing no hands with his eyes closed  . No helmet or anything.)
Fell on ice and landed on his face. His front two teeth broke.
Climbed a tree to get his kite. Fell, landed indian style, broke both legs in several places. And when they went to take his cast off they were having a Med student do it. He cut, with the saw, into DH's leg and bone!
Got a concussion High Jumping. (He ended up beating the State High School High Jump record which he held for several years.)
Numerous sports injuries.
400+ stitches.

Lord help me if my kids are like this!

DS #1, age 4: Tripped while running on a sidewalk and fell right smack on his face; 8 lovely stitches in his forehead!

DS #2, age 2: Ran full-speed into the corner of a table; HUGE
black eye that lasted over a month!
Two months later, on vacation, fell out of bed and
hit his eye area on a corner of a chair on the way
down--another big black eye!

Thankfully no broken bones yet. But they are only 4 and 2 years old so there's lots of time! :(

Reading all these stories makes me cringe and makes me wonder how such a high percentage of kids survive to adulthood!
:D
