I was last at WDW in Nov 2006. They had just come out with the healthy choices for the kids and they had made drastic changes. Basically you got carrot sticks, and milk with every meal. Now while that is a good idea for health sake, there were days that my kids wanted a burger and fries or pizza and it was basically eliminated from their menus. I remember my kids questioning why they had to have a turkey rollup again. My question is, has Disney relaxed somewhat with this? Do you have the choice to choose not such a good choice of food for your kids? :confused3

When I went in Feb 2007, it was still very much the "healthy" choices. I had trouble getting CS meals for my DD to eat so I was sharing mine with her.

Recently, I have noticed that many of the menus (the ones on allearsnet) mention that french fries, cookies, and soda are available for substitution in the kid's meals in place of the carrot sticks, grapes, and unsweetened applesauce.

I agree with you, mrshams! When we took the 2 grandkids in June (they were 7 and 5), this was our biggest problem. I think they should have healthy choices on the kid's menu, but it should be a CHOICE, not mandated. Geez, they're on vacation too - how would WE like it if all we could choose from on our menu was grilled chicken and salad?? :confused3
I sure hope Disney changes this.

We were there this past September. We had no trouble substituting for fries. Also alot of time there was more then one option for dessert.

My DD had her share of nuggets, pizzas, burgers and dogs!!

The menus on Allears are great and they have the date of the most recent update listed. I wish they menus on here did that.

There are a few more choices for kids now but still very few places with nuggets or burgers and tons with mac and cheese. The pizza is on the adult menu at CS places unless you go somewhere that doesn't have a kids menu (like Pizza Planet). Kids can get pudding or a choc chip cookie as a CS dessert but 95% of TS places offer make your own sundae or fruit cup.

at CS places for kids meals you have a choice of 2 sides-with the entree
For example at Backlot express in HS
Chicken nuggets
Chocolate chip cookie
baby carrots
Apple Juice
OR chicken nuggets
Fries
Grapes
Small Bottled water
OR sloppy Joe
Fries
Applesauce
Milk

Sides are normally : Grapes, applesauce, baby carrots, chocolate chip cookie
fruit punch jello, fries (at places that serve fries)
TS meals are different and each place has it's own menus- I agree with PP check out all ears

We were at Disney in Nov and had no problems substituting fries for the healthier options. :)

We were just there last month and we had no problems anywhere getting fries and soda instead of the healthier options.

THis worries me for my son who has a diary, peanut and fish allergy. We didn't have too many problems last year. I'll make sure to ask for a chef even at counter service. We had problems last year at the Back Lot in DHS. They forced my son to eat a cold chicken plate with ranch dressing and he is allergic to ranch.

We had no issues in obtaining junk food for our kids at any location. We do sometimes buy adult entrees for our kids if that's what they'd prefer. For $5, I don't quibble with them about what they want.
