Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 5

I have a question and since this is the only board I hang out on, I'm asking you! I just discovered that the Pirate and Princess Party will be starting the week we are at DW. I have 4 kids, aged 10, 8, 5, and 2. Is it worth it? Should I buy tickets? It wouldn't be too difficult to rearrange our plans and I've booked back up ADRs (don't worry, I'll cancel the ones I don't use just as soon as I make a decision!) If anyone could tell me more about the PPP I would appreciate it. And just to make it relevant, if we go, I need to get working on some customs asap! Thanks!

Lori

Lori, I love these. Are they flannel or regular cotton?

I need some opinions please. I sewed this shirt for ds. I meant for it to be angled but now I can't decide if it looks okay. So does the square look like it was meant to lay at an angle or does it look like I can't sew in a straight line??? Does that make any sense???? Should I redo it?

th_100_6108.jpg

th_100_6109.jpg

NO WAY! Don't redo it. It totally looks like you wanted it to have that cute jauntly look! He is a adorable!

I could use that! It was COLD when we were outside playing and it is still 57 out!

These are bibs that I made for dd4's 2nd Thanksgiving. I traced around her hand & then cut the pieces out of felt & sewed them on. I got the patterns for the rest of the turkey's parts online somewhere. I just searched for handprint turkeys 'til I found what I wanted.

th_2turkeybib.jpg

th_1turkeybib.jpg

This is dd1's Thanksgiving shirt from last year. It's not a great pic, but trying to get a 6 1/2 month old to be still when there's paper around is NOT easy. (We do Christmas at Thanksgiving with my Mom's family. REALLY makes life easier in December.)

th_2006_11270041.jpg

I love these and the keepsake idea of it!

I bought the Stipwork jumper pattern from Youcanmakethis.com yesterday and went out to buy fabric for it today. I bought different christmas fabric - each of them 1/2 yd. I washed them, put them in the dryer and I was getting ready to cut them out when I realized that I am not going to have enough to cut out four strips of the same fabric..ugh..I really should have bought 3/4 yd instead of 1/2 yd! The pattern said to use 4 different fabric, and to cut 4 strips of each fabric for a total of 16 strips. So, I only have 12 strips...do you think it will look OK if I use two strips of another fabric, and another 2 strips of another fabric to make up the difference..or do you think it will actually look strange if I do that. Hope I am making sense...

Here are the six different fabrics...do you think my choice of fabric will look OK?

th_IMG_2264p.jpg

I think it will be fine, also if you wanted to use all fo them equally just cut the strips a different size but to equal out the total. Did that make sense? I am sure you thought of it already though.

Here was one post we had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when about different Ebay search terms.

Teresa is the best! If you need it, she finds it!

Okay, so here was my brilliant idea...we have about a gazillion of those darn autograph books from WDW laying around the house, that the girls really don't look at after the trip...BUT you KNOW we have to get every character's autograph that we can find while we're there right? So this year, I decided that I would make them their own little autograph books using pictures from past years so that it would be a little more special for them. I started out thinking I would use a 5 x 7 book...Wrong! Too small...so I worked my way up to a 7 x 7...it was better, but I could only get like two picture per page on it, and I wanted more. So, I finally settled on an 8 x 8 book that I'm sure I'll be cursing having to lug around for them, but I like the size better. DD5's is mostly done, dd9's is about half done. Here are a couple of pages...

th_IMG_0354.jpg

th_IMG_0355.jpg

But, because the books are so small and I dreaded the thought of the weight of them (!) I tried to keep it pretty simple.

Hope this gives you some ideas!!!

Maggi

I really like this! Wish I would have thought to use last years pictures. DS looks at his constantly and is waiting for me to print out the pictures to go next to them!

WELCOME all new lurkers! We are one big happy family! :grouphug:

And I don't know what happened to the quote about the P&P party. I don't like paying out the extra money for the parties but DS loves them. The P&P had the most characters I have ever seen and awesome backdrops for most all of the princesses and several other characters you never see. Stepsisters from Cinderella and more like that. So if the kids like characters that is a huge plus! This was at DW though, not land.

I finally finished the girls' tops for MGM. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to do the applique. They're reversible, too.

You turned this one out pretty fast, Deann! You amaze me. It turned out really cute, too!

My mom did about 75% of it! Plus, I refused to go to bed last night until it was finished!

:wave2: Hi Teresa I was just wondering how you sister is sick today? I have not seen her on much. I hope she gets well soon:

How sweet of you to ask about her! I know she allready posted, but she isn't doing well. My poor little sister.

Lurker here speaking up. I have done very little sewing until recently. My grandmother gave me a machine she didn't like (Brother XL6562). I have made some purses, my daughter's Halloween costume and various other small things.

I really enjoy seeing everyone's projects. It is what has motivated me to really start trying to sew. Of course, I have spent alot of time doing this trying to keep up with the amount of posting but it gives me great tips and inspiration.

:welcome: Ok, now I have to go find the party smiley, hold on, I'll be right back Here, have something to eat while you wait popcorn:: .......:hourglass ...:coffee: .........party:

Just remember, Teresa and I live in Michigan, so all of you thinking you made the right move by moving away...you're wrong! You're missing out on the Dis Sistas! :lmao:
You just KNEW that would get me, didn't yah!

:rotfl2: Hey, remember Corey's lovely pants that I made him? If he can wear those to school, Jacob can wear overalls! :rotfl2: (No, Corey doesn't wear them to school, they're jammies
I was hoping you would come on and see that post about the overalls!
Hey, I saw Palm Harbor, FL on the news yesterday! Some idiot put stuff in a guy's koi pond and killed all of his fish. Where were you the night before last?
Yah Steph, what were you doing?????

Great deal on the Minnie dot! All of our WalMarts ran out of it before it got a chance to go on clearance.
I know that stunk! I did get some fabrics today for .50 a yard though. They had the multicolored polka dots (big and small), multi colored checks, and multicolored stripes at ours. I'm too lazy to take pictures right now though. They also had black and white stripes. If anyone is looking for these, let me know, I left some!

I think it looks adorable! Just like him!

Are you asking me? If so it is the fabric sheets that you can run through your printer. The design is by the creative DISigners. I printed it then satin stitched it on the shirt. I thought it might look better than an iron on.

http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat3777&PRODID=prd12984

I just bought some of those kind of sheets at the dollar store. I was wondering how they would work. Yours look great!

That is GORGEOUS!!!!!! I love that! How's Morgan's tongue doing?

I liked all of your stuff! Especially the HSM jacket! I couldn't make out what this picture was of.

I feel so loved, thank you for asking! I'm still feeling pretty craptacular. Hopefully this will pass soon!
 Yah, you are loved!

Semi-Lurker here !
I want to make my niece an outfit for the Pirate & Princess party in March. Is there a pattern to make the Mickey pirate applique - or do you draft the two pieces freehand?
well, should I give you a semi :welcome: ? Nah!!! :welcome: :cheer2:
Did you check the photobucket account for a pirate Mickey head? I htink it is in there.

Some of my hippie work (I am SOO bad at remembering to take pics!)

These are some jeans I made a friend's daughter

This is a dress I made dd 2 years ago (now, i's a shirt). I've made about 500 variations of this same dress. this is the only stinking picture!
nana4_215x480.jpg

And this is an apron top I made for myself. It looks funny on the mannequin because I have HUGE bajombas.
hippiesew1_360x480.jpg

OK, dh says I have to include this. This is me posing in a custom dress I designed and made for a friend. It is WAY too short on me, and I m 20 lbs ligter now, but here it is.
custom1_192x480.jpg

Please don't laugh too hard. Most of my current work is nicer, I swear!!

These all look great!!! And congratulations on the weight loss!

Since we've been talking about autograph books (well, a little anyway), I thought I'd share mine. I got the 6x8-ish albums that Target had in the $1 bins last month & took out the posts & added ring clips so I could have as many pages as I wanted. Once we get back from our trip I'll add some ribbons & the pics of dds and the characters.

1) I did make Jacob some Pokemon pjs and he liked them so much I bought some soccer ball fabric to make another pair. He even wore them to a sleepover with another Pokemon fanatic.
2) Yes I did see that story and no, I am not a fish killer! Honestly! :snooty:

I love it! I bought a pattern for a fleece jacket but that is so much more princess-y! Did you use a pattern? I love the fur!

I love June's earring! Did you use a pattern?

Wow I love all the latest creations!

I really love the Peter Pan shirt. My DS loves Peter Pan.

Today I went looking for some coordinating fabric to go with this
IMG_5347.jpg

I love it but when I go to Joann's none of the colors look like they match right. I really want some fabric that was made to go with it. I bought it at Joann's and it was with the Juvenile apparel fabric and it said Juvenile apparel, Holiday Scottie on the end. I bought 3 yards of it.

Has anyone seen this before? Or a coordinating stripe or pattern?
I may go with some red with white polka dots.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate it. I am not good with color schemes.

I may have to make a coordinating shawl (poncho) That was adorable!
Thanks, I have to go get my kids in bed now!

To those that asked about Morgan's tongue, she is a little better tonight. She talked a little funny today. Poor thing. Ok I admit it the poncho was sympathy....... I felt so bad for her. She picked out the fabric a few weeks ago and has been bugging me to put the white fur on something. So I did. She was so happy when she came home and saw the poncho, I could not get it off her.

And yes Teresajoy I am making one for Jord LOL:banana:

This "mommy" thing sucks when you can't protect them from "oweees". It finally hit me last night why this upset me so. This was the first time since she has been home that she cried when she got hurt. I have seen this child run and fall face first on a marble floor and not even wimper. For so many years of her life she did not know when you fall down mommy kisses your boo boo.
Sorry for the too much information, it gets to me every once in awhile.

Okay, I finished 2 1/2 outfits today!   One Doanld and one Minnie for my dd4 and I am almost done with the Minnie for my DD11mo(one year old Thursday!:cutie:) I just have to rick track the top! So hopefully I can post pics tomorrow!:woohoo: Fingers crossed!

Aww, poor mom. I always tell my husband, why are those kids so much tougher than me? I always seem to dwell on the things that hurt them (physically and emotionally) much longer than they do. I am sure she is thrilled with her new poncho and probably doesn't think about her tongue much at all!
